It's official: the new email hosting service I'll be launching will run on OpenBSD as well. The two OpenSMTPD SMTP servers will operate on two OpenBSD installations.

Evening is descending upon Mantova, Italy.

Like every day for the past 2000 years, the city is preparing to slumber.

The last rays of the sun are casting their final glow upon the tranquil waters, which flow with a soothing, melodic murmur.

And I ponder how many things, people, and events those waters have mirrored. A new morning will arrive, bathing those ancient bricks in fresh light, just as it has for the last 2000 years.

On traditional social media, many people respond hoping to go 'viral', post for likes, or aim to become influencers. Often, they just try to conform, not truly expressing who they are or what they think.

This is why I appreciate the Fediverse: here, people express themselves genuinely, without the pursuit of viral fame or dreams of becoming millionaire influencers.

In the Fediverse, people seek meaningful dialogue. This genuine expression and desire for real conversations is what has long been missing in the sea of users on traditional social platforms.

"It’s not Covid

There’s no way it’s Covid

It was Covid"

Two weeks ago, I started feeling unwell with a fever that lasted only two days, but it left me with some cough, weakness, and light-headedness. It took me a long time to recover.

A few days later, my wife went through the same process but still has a lot of cold symptoms.

Both of us were recently vaccinated, and the doctor diagnosed viral laryngitis, sparing us the swab as it was 'unlikely' to be Covid (we had no contacts, didn't attend events, etc.).

Yesterday, seeing her persistent intense cold (and my light-headedness, among other signs), my wife decided to take a swab test: positive.

We still wonder how it was possible, but it turned out to be Covid. Our first infection after almost 4 years.

We've had worse flus in our lives, but I don't recall this feeling of light-headedness before.

Today, I had a work meeting with a young but eager fellow. We had a chat, I explained a few things, and he agreed with the technical choices I suggested. However, the issue arose when I mentioned writing a few lines of a "tutorial" on how to do certain things. His response: "Can't you make a video?" Surprised (but not too much), I argued that in my opinion, a concise written tutorial is more practical than a pointless video. His reply: "We only watch videos now, even my colleagues look up solutions on YouTube." This is despite the wealth of excellent tutorials on StackExchange and various blogs. I wonder: why waste half an hour watching a video that could be summarized in a few lines of text (saving time for both the producer and the user)?

Going to try #GrapheneOS on my #Google #Pixel7 - I'm curious.

A log. But not a file.

Good morning world! It's Saturday morning, I have a bit of a headache, and a lot of things I want to get done. I'll be sharing soon about an old project that's evolving into a new one.

I'm just trying to figure out how to handle the final structure, but like the old one, it will primarily be based on FreeBSD. Stay tuned!

nostr:npub1t7dmr2xue8zaxsxhy2xkdja0nx6f8cu8y8l7hfksw98y773djkgquzpqpp Large companies have policy restrictions (read: often long lasting bad choices)and license models which restrict valid choices on rational basis. No space for local or new initiatives, except if you are strong and have time to build a case

nostr:npub1p2atql30s3lsa77tgdqxdautllss0y9tw7tlkwnupc5mle0ez6xsy6gtqc True, but in this specific case, my colleague's client is a public company. In Italy, for years now, the rule has been to prioritize fully open-source solutions, and only in cases of unavailability, seek proprietary solutions.

However, there is always someone inside, in some way "sponsored" by some big company, so using open source (Laravel, Kubernetes, etc.) but necessarily on Azure is acceptable 😉
