A "selection of evocative photographs from Historic England’s Bedford Lemere and Company collection illustrates the variety of activities and places the firm was commissioned to record during the early 20th century, providing us with a lasting snapshot of what life was like during this period of significant upheaval."

We got out the little bucket bbq for the first time in over a year, and made a hobo dinner - burgers and veggies cooked in a foil packet. Took 40 minutes over hot coals, and worked really well 😀

Just been talking with a landscaper about dismantling our garden and putting it back to lawn.

It's depressing, but we just can't cope with gardening in the summer (too hot) and the whole thing has become an untameable jungle of weeds.

This morning, I will mostly be... refreshing my Radiation Safety training.

Time for my mother’s ultra-loving morning ritual, whereby she reminds me that hairdryers exist, and one is a available for my use.

News flash: my parents don’t think a certain celebrity’s reported sexual indiscretions should be front-page news. There are MORE IMPORTANT things to cover, dammit!

(They’re watching tv. They are loud. It’s like a bat shit version of Gogglebox.)

I think this means we just join the throng of people getting up, or the croissants will be burnt and it will be my fault.

Early this year, I bought a new coat from an outdoor shop. And it happens to be bright pink, which is not a colour I would normally wear, but Ryan said it would be good for visibility (I’m intending to wear it it non-urban environments), so I went with it.

First thing my brother says yesterday morning, after seeing me in it, was “I see you’ve jumped on the Barbie bandwagon.”

I refused to dignify that comment with a response.

Later on (after threatening to stab my brother with a cake fork, and getting a rousing cheer from my female relatives for replying to one of his sexist comments with the line “the absence of a penis discourages me from many things, including talking absolute bollocks”), the talk turned to migrants, and I had to leave before I really killed someone.

My mum said something* last night that made me laugh so much (it’s not my fault, they gave me wine) that she asked why, and my only explanation was “It’s 2023, it’s OK to be gay”.

To which my dad replied “We know it’s OK to be gay, the BBC tells us that every 5 minutes.”

Sounds to me like the BBC needs to ramp up their efforts. There are some people at the back who haven’t really understood the message.

We are in the Peak District, near Bakewell.

We _might_ get to go somewhere today, but Ryan’s foot is a bit dodgy, so we can’t do too much walking.

Any suggestions?

(Nature wins out every time, over say a National Trust property)

A really good night’s sleep would have made today a lot easier.

I am descended from very dull people.

When I look at Western fashion shows I go "meh, why would anyone wear that?"

This I love.

Maybe next time, you can give me your feedback in interpretive dance? I would probably find that less confusing.
