pirated movies don't have unskippable fbi logo threats and all those bullshit whereas legal copies from the stores do, so who's the criminal? 🤷
miners could change that if they would care about anything but maximizing profits via monkey jpegs
wouldn't be cheaper just to buy a mining farm and consolidate utxos for "free"? 🤔 😄
attention whores are rewarded with fame and spotlight for the slightest apparent contribution to people whereas under-the-hood cogwheels in the backstage doing critical work are forgotten and ignored

displaying msec precision clock on a 60hz monitor is like measuring the 100m sprint with a sundial
if you want to cite below the cs definition of algorithms please don't bother
now custom filters and sorting we call algos I guess.. 🤔
fantastic shot! 👍
The biggest problem with algos is that they distort reality. Yes, you don't want to miss all the interesting things, even if you don't know whether you gonna like it or not, you want to be up-to-date with all the latest shit, again even with the topics you don't yet know about so let someone/something figure it out for you. However you will miss things in life. Especially the ones you really wouldn't want to miss. You simply cannot be everywhere all the time. That's the nature of existence.
This constant buzzing of updates, trends, toplists, follows and hypes the steady flow of dopamine gives people the false sense (in terms of magnitude) of importance resulting in a whole generation of influencers who view themselves as god-emperors in real life because of the 20k followers online. Not to mention that all algorithms can be abused one way or another leading to unforeseen consequences. I'm looking at you Taproot!

or was it win8 🤔
better than the fullscreen startup animation for calculator as in windows 10 🤦♂️
without waiting five minutes (which feels like five hours) for systemd to kindly kill the bt daemon? 🤣

💯
This is why I'm a bit hesitant when it comes to tools which try to solve people's laziness. It's probably inevitable for the same reason algos just have a bad precedent. If nostr really wants to stand out it shouldn't copy from the worst examples (reddit, twitter, facebook).
No matter how simple or clever the algorithm is it's going to prefer one group of people over others since that's the purpose of it and I think that's problematic.
without a doubt but this is not what we talk about here.
we all have our own follow-mute algorithm in our heads, none of them is public bc it's noone's business and that's fine imho.
