Some artists leave a mark the first time you see them, and @laurenruthward has been that for me since the night I first caught her at The Roxy back in 2017. Tonight at the @gibsonguitar showroom, celebrating the release of her latest album Medicine, she conjured the same magic and raw energy that’s stayed with me all these years.

Her music has been a soundtrack to countless moments, and photographing her performances has been a constant reminder of why I fell in love with live music photography in the first place. Grateful to witness her evolution and still be inspired every time she steps on stage.

The last (and first) time I saw @julezandtherollerz live was two years ago at an @lamusicscene_ home concert … WAAAAY too long of a gap. Finally caught them again at @barhenryla during @echoparkrising, and I gotta say… the new music rocks 🤘 The new material is straight fire 🔥 and I’m hyped to hear the studio versions when they drop.

On Saturday during @echoparkrising I wandered over to @barhenryla a bit early and ended up catching a band called @belleandchain. I kinda got a Laurel Canyon rock with a touch of psychedelia vibe with them. Pretty pleasant surprise… especially when I discovered their lead singer is @spencergrammer, aka the voice of Summer from Rick and Morty! Glad I showed up early for this one!

I’ll admit it — I’ve been sleeping on @mackandgold for way too long. Caught her live for the first time at @thesemitropic for some pre- @echoparkrising festivies, and she was dope. Smooth R&B vibes that honestly caught me off guard in the best way. When she mentioned she’d be doing a special set of System of a Down covers the next day, I thought she was joking… but turns out she really did it. I’ll definitely be keeping an eye on her going forward.

First time seeing @machillmusic live during @echoparkrising at @thesemitropic. He mentioned that he hadn’t been on stage in a while, but his set was a slick fusion of disco, funk, house, and electronica… somewhere between Parcels’ polish and Daft Punk’s pulse. I dig it.
