If you run your own single user instance it’s very similar to nostr from a censorship pov. It’s pretty easy to migrate who you follow between instances but I don’t think you can bring your posts with you. Fediverse just refers to other protocols mastodon can link to that are also decentralized, eg pixelfed is like Instagram and as a mastodon user I can follow someone’s pixelfed posts from within my mastodon if that makes sense.
Mastodon has the “fediblock” hashtag to warn others of malicious users and servers. Could easily use something like #nostrblock for people trying to preemptively get away from trolls. Not as convenient as a list or filter but can be effective before those are developed. Muted users can still basically stalk their target but it’s at least some line of defense.
Looks like evidence may favor the covid lab leak explanation. Just so everyone knows, probably a bit more than half of the scientists I work with thought it was plausible from day one, and we all watched that get politicized. And we’re vast majority left leaning.
I don’t recommend to anyone either because it needs more opt in protections if people want to primarily use it as social media. Many people are constantly attacked irl, who would want to log into nostr just for more of that? Trolls like to whine about free speech when their actions attempt to limit others’ speech through harassment and intimidation.
Watched it recently. Was happy to see napoleon dynamites girlfriend in it lol. Not as bad as I remember except Kevin Costners character is vile and hard to watch and then has a really poorly executed redemption character arc. Kind of impressive overall for the time, technically though
Enjoyed hearing your take on that panel! Definitely brought a high level view of what’s happening right now
Everyone should be working to be big enough to no longer need LinkedIn. It’s actually somewhat of a significant motivator for me, they suck!
