Understanding Satoshi
Satoshi Nakamoto is the pseudonymous name of a person or group of people who created Bitcoin, the first decentralized cryptocurrency. After publishing the Bitcoin white paper in the bitcointalk thread in October 2008, Satoshi communicated regularly with the growing community for the next two years, explaining the different concepts of the Bitcoin ecosystem. The true identity of Satoshi Nakamoto, however, remained unknown and is still a mystery to this day. Despite this, the smallest unit of Bitcoin, representing 0.00000001 of a Bitcoin (BTC), is commonly referred to as “Satoshis” in honor of the cryptocurrency’s creator.
