Which hat would you wear?

I grew up in one of the poorest states in the US (top 2 or 3).

I went to really bad public schools with a reputation for violence.

I was an awful student who rarely pushed himself in anything.

In my early 20s, I made horrific financial decisions and accumulated a huge amount of debt.

99% of my friends still live there, doing the same shit they were 10+ years ago.

I managed to pull myself out by working my ass off. Because of that, I’ve been alienated from nearly all of my family and only maintain 2 friendships from my youth, and I was a social butterfly.

All of those I’m disaffected from claim my wife and I are judgemental, uppity, and generally not great people. Except, we’ve literally never told anyone what to do. We’ve offered advice when asked, but even that is met with scorn.

Poverty isn’t just being broke. It’s a prison for your mind.

Repentance is the key. To have a hate for your Sin above all to be developed within you. To become estranged from the world as your relation to Christ deepens.

SPENDING TIME AWAY FROM THE INTERNET I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT

You can start at the beginning and read the Bible through, or start in the New Testament. Luke and Acts were written for an audience that didn't already have so much background to the story, so that's helpful.

It can be tricky to find a good church, but it's good if you can.

I'd start with prayer. Ask God to show you who He is. It doesn't have to be fancy. He can help you understand what you're reading, and send people across your path to help. You get to ask the Author as you read.

It's okay to read without understanding everything. An overview helps you get an idea what's there, and you can dig in more later.

Ultimately, even the Bible isn't really the point. It's about Jesus, and the way He makes it so we can know God. When you're ready to surrender and repent, letting Him forgive you and be your Lord and fill you with His Spirit, the rest comes together.

Fact check on myself, I've been saying that there were 3 school shootings the same day that Charlie Kirk was shot, I made a mistake.

It was 3 students killed at a school shooting in Colorado, not 3 seperate school shootings.

But the point still stands that none of the virtue signallers mourning his death care about innocent children being killed.

They are only mourning him because he was a celebrity.
