Still the best bet for cross platform, which many businesses need to maximize target audience. And easy to hire devs.
Missed this whole thread... but yeah, phoenix hasnt been working for a while. I changed it. Thank you both for trying!
This could also just be regular austistic nerd behavior 😅
I bet most people will scan their ID as if it was nothing...
wow wtf... pretty certain this is a scam site. Do not recommend clicking the download links... CC nostr:npub1sg6plzptd64u62a878hep2kev88swjh3tw00gjsfl8f237lmu63q0uf63m nostr:npub12rv5lskctqxxs2c8rf2zlzc7xx3qpvzs3w4etgemauy9thegr43sf485vg https://bitchats.app/
Yup, installs a different app. Its been there for a while, but i guess its not easy to get rid of it.
Real site is https://bitchat.free/
Maybe something from nostr:nprofile1qqsf9jl9scw0c5snmkylpfhkppzgd7z7dupul6ms5yl52kfcz9jr8wqpzamhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuurjd9kkzmpwdejhgtcpzdmhxue69uhhqatjwpkx2urpvuhx2ue0qy28wumn8ghj7un9d3shjctzd3jjummjvuhsmqezp2? I'm currently reading one and it focus a lot in the societal and philosophical ideas, without requiring a lot of prior knowledge.
I think the important in the beginning is more to make him curious than to give him an overview. If the economics part really clicks (just got Broken Money and looks great for this), then he'll probably have questions about how bitcoin works and fixes the issue. Then he might question why governments cant't stop this and need something about the game theory (maybe Gradually then suddenly by Parker Lewis). Then he might find proof of work inneficient (for that I would give him nostr:nprofile1qqsxu35yyt0mwjjh8pcz4zprhxegz69t4wr9t74vk6zne58wzh0waycpg3mhxw309aukcursw35nwercdd3hzatxv56xkvnhx3cxxvnkxvmhwanr0pehvefhdfhkc7nwd9chzcmy095hvutsw9kx2vmvd9jzummwd9hkutcpzamhxue69uhkzarvv9ejumn0wd68ytnvv9hxgtcpr9mhxue69uhkgetjva5kw6fwdehhxarjxyhxxmmd9ux59hxq's Bitcoin is time). And so on.
Bitcoin is multidisciplinary so I don't think there's a sequential approach. Find what interests him the most, and feed the curiosity when the questions innevitably come up.
This is basically the architecture of contact tracing apps, right? I think this could work!
Ah, so location is only being used to determine your geohashes? Is the channel using one of the groups nips?
As you said, i think this project has different goals and tradeoffs. I would consider adding an option to filter out teleported users and their messages from a channel. The more local, the more abuse gets solved by proof of punch. Its not a solution but might help.
Mesh is bluetooth mesh, the same bluetooth that you can use to connect your headphones - the mesh means that the devices can connect to each other and pass along messages, forming a network. The goal is for you to be able to communicate privately, even without internet.
Bluetooth only reaches 10 meters, and unless youre in a busy place there is no one to pass along your message. When you favorited someone and they are unreachable, but you have internet, bitchat will instead send the message as a nostr message via relays.
Last piece of the puzzle is geohashes, a little code that represents a place in the world. You can join a channel for your location (or teleport to a random one) and everyone is communicating via nostr messages there.
If you favorite a user or join a geohash, it will send the messages via nostr instead of mesh (if you have internet)
Same setup and I'm getting all that sweet #21m spam 😂
at first i thought bitchat was a distraction because of limited bluetooth reach and historical security issues, but as things progressed I see I was dead wrong.
Not necessarily because bitchat is gonna revolutionize chat experience, but because its another piece of the puzzle, going from hyper local to global over nostr and back to hyper local.

bitchat is using nostr as global backend now:

throw in some meshtastic and reticulum and we're slowly but surely building out new decentralized infrastructure that is incredibly adaptive and ungovernable.
https://github.com/ksedgwic/noshtastic
the beauty of nostr is that its dumb, signed json can be transferred over whatever medium, its async so you can get the latest updates from wherever you come across something on the electromagnetic spectrum and odds are it might be carrying nostr notes.
this is how resilient infrastructure is built - on a wide spectrum, like the builders making it.
ungovernable networks of resistance 🏴☠️
noste - notes and other stuff transmitted over everything
