Nostr is the biggest communications invention since the printing press
Yes, bitcoiners are used to comparing the impact of printing press to the one of #Bitcoin . And while this comparison is rather accurate and illustrative, we now have a perfect match in the face of #Nostr . All of these inventions have played (and continue playing) a vital role in stripping central authorities off their monopoly on violence. Nevertheless I find Bitcoin to be a discovery of its own, not like anything else that ever existed or at least known to humanity. Meanwhile Nostr is more of a reimagination of our approach to communicating over long distances. A new digital printing press in the palm of everyone’s hand, that no one can censor & no one can exclude.
Nostr allows everyone to be heard while not forcing anyone to listen to everything.
Before the invention of printing, the number of manuscript books in Europe could be counted in thousands. By 1500, after only 50 years of printing, there were more than 9M books. With Nostr being actively used for just a few months the number of censorship resistant “accounts” is nearing 2M.
Information wants to be free and thanks to Nostr no one can stop it now.

It is curious that people think:
“What if governements ban #Bitcoin? Isn't that a risk?”
I say: IF it were possible, yes.
But a global, authoritarian, communist power like China couldn't do it, and only made it stronger in the process.
