I've quit using Amazon's Audible service since it's looking like that's heading towards streaming next year.
Leaving Librivox aside there are two alternativers worth mentioning: Libro .fm and Downpour .com. Over all, they both have pros and cons.
Libro_FM
Pros: Completely DRM-free 100% of the time, most books can be bought with credits and credits don't expire, has a decent app
Cons: Owners are woke. Not woke-lite, full on woke. But since everything is DRM-free you can buy what you want and ignore what they shill on the front page
Downpour
Pros: Baring a small number of exceptions, the site is DRM-free. There are a ton of deals going on evey day and credits never expire like with Libro_fm. Downpour is also closer to politically neutral than Libro_fm, even though it's hard to get away from that with how the industry is atm...
Cons: The site is more boomer in terms of how it's designed. Not horribly, but it could do with an update. The app is more lacking compared to Libro_fm's too. Functional, but not always super intuitive.
