Low time preference beauty. No where to go, no where to be. Bucket list visit someday.
Connected with a friend recently who got another dog. Great..awesome. Good guy great guy, but no partner. In and out of relationships. Can’t/doesn’t want to commit. This is the reality of the modern age: single or you’re a DINK. Granted, I realize this isn’t always by choice and everyone’s situation is different. However, having two kids myself, I can tell you there is nothing more meaningful you can do with your life than pay it forward and pass down your genetics. Kids can be a lot of work but I wouldn’t trade it for the world. Filling that nurturing “hole” with pets isn’t the answer. All the plants and animals spread their seeds. To procreate is to partake in the deepest, most sacred part of The Mystery. I love my dog, but it’s not the same deep rooted love and connection I have for my kids. There are no substitutions. Spread your seed. Have kids. Life rips.
Music history in a nutshell…Anyone appreciate ska and/or Ska Punk? There’s a neat history behind this particular music and how it evolved.
Mid/late 60s, Jamaican ska was booming thanks to the likes of Desmond Dekker, Skatalites, Wailing Wailers. The influence of this music eventually morphed into Rocksteady and Reggae with its slowed down tempo and heavy bass lines. However, the upbeat tempo of ska made its way to the UK where the Jamaicans intermingled with the punks.
This lead to the late 70s “2 Tone” era encompassing a sharp/punchy energy to the mix.
The punk influence was in full effect with high energy upstrokes fueled by a desire for social change and racial unity (Ie. Selector, The Beat, Specials).
Enter the third wave: Orange County, CA in the mid to late 90s. Building off previous influence, the third wave ska movement kept the high energy of its predecessors but was highly influenced by their particular flavor of punk intertwined with the OC hardcore/skate scene (Reel Big Fish, No Doubt, Aquabats)
I really enjoy all waves of ska, including ska punk. It’s cool to give respect to the origins of sound - Where it came from
and where it will go.
I frequently listen to Jamaican ska, but tonight I revisited a classic 90s Ska Punk album:
“Hello Rockview” by Less Than Jake.
Despite origins in Fla, it’s an all time favorite of mine and a definitive album of the era. Front to back, it’s a fun nostalgic trip back to a time and a place. It’s grounded in youthful undertones mixed with punchy
anthemic horns, guitars and catchy lyrics. As a kid being wrapped up in the skate/snow scene, it definitely had an influence.
It’s fun to trace the history of that particular sound all the way back to 1960s Jamaica. The common thread is there despite the radical change in sound. If the below doesn’t suit you - try some classic 60s ska. Taste the origins, then revisit to sense the commonalities.
Anyway - Hello Rockview:

For the yogis out there: super solid strength-based vinyasa flow. This is one of a few that I have been doing weekly for the past several years. Who needs a gym? Get after it.

Wow super interesting. Whats the point of being able to do this? Just to view public posts if someone doesn’t have an account?
Interesting. Yeah I suppose that makes sense. Appreciate the peace of mind!
I want to remove them entirely from my follower list so they cannot see my account or try to interact with me. I’m still a bit of a noob so not sure what’s possible. One of them is some strange gay porn account lol.
Question for the #nostr #primal community: is there a way to block users from following you? All I’m seeing on primal is the ability to mute which isn’t good enough. The “report” button doesn’t lead to anything. I’ve had a few accounts follow me over the last couple of months who are actively trying to scam and I want to remove them entirely. Happy to #zap for any solutions. Thanks in advance.
I have a new hobby: commenting on every single piece of Bitcoin FUD on Forbes articles. So many salty tears. “bUT bItCoIn uSeS eNeRgY”, yea no shit. Energy usage is the price of progress, dumbass. Bunch of geriatric cavemen out there refusing to use fire. #nostr #forbes #bitcoin #FUD
I zap some sats before I zap some sats, and then I zap some more. ⚡️

What's the general rule of thumb of average age when kids start to use social media? I mean I know back in the late 90s, early 2000s I was chatting up a storm with strangers "supposedly other teens", had my icq and stuff and my parents were not privy to any of it. I remember arranging a couple of blind dates, I am pretty sure I either checked him out from a far and did not show up. Though now that I think of it might have also made some new friends that way. I also did some real edgy stuff I won't go into here, but as usual early stage culture meme creation, for which I don't know how I really feel about. I've done some stupid shit and honestly it's kind of a miracle I am still here. Walking on the edge used to give me a kind of disassociative high I guess.
So anyhow. When I was in Eastern Europe in recent years I was astonished by the early exposure I witnessed of young children to some pretty racy content...It seemed awfully sexualizing. And I would think so much of it depends on the parents as well. I spoke to friends who had deep concerns about their own children and being kind of at a loss about how to protect them from constant exposure to all kinds of sicko narratives etc. online.
I don't have children yet and I haven't really looked into this much... But somewhere at some point I remember reading about some pretty shocking stats on teen suicide rates due to cyber bulying.
Where am I going with this?
I don't really know. I am just packing and thinking... As we build Nostr, we should probably also think about the children, adolescents, teens coming in at some point....
As I shared what was a very yucky shocking experience the other day of stumbling across CSAM and being shocked into concern... Then experiencing a tiny taste of what seemed like bullying with more CP related content directly on my note... It got me thinking... (There are some immature vibes and definitely some sick people on the Nostr for sure)
This should be things taken into consideration in the way we build.
Not sure what and how that looks like.... Maybe it is education, maybe there are preventative measures and gatekeeping maybe it's something else. Just planting seeds.
Maybe all of this is totally in motion here and I am just not privy to it and needing to find out about it by first getting super trauma triggered to wake me up into action and out of my own lalaland bubble of simping Nostr.
So to get to the point. What's your practice of your kiddos and social media and or what social media world do you want for them with awareness of dangerous mines existing in a decentralized censorship resistant one.

Hey Diyana, father of a 4yo son and 2yo daughter and there probably aren’t many days I go without thinking about this. I agree, it’s all pretty concerning. As they age, hovering/smothering will be harmful despite good intensions and will break down trust. When age appropriate, I think transparency and radical honesty is key and will build trust. Let’s be honest, mistakes will be made though but I’m going to do my best to help my kids harness these technologies through the lens of respect and awareness that not all that use said platforms have their best intensions in mind. I was born in 91’ and I miss that age of innocence. Kids these days are exposed to so much at such a young age. All we can do is move forward and guide the next gen into better versions of ourselves.
Some go on shopping sprees, I prefer zapping sprees. ⚡️#nostr
Tri Tips are the best cuts. If you know, you know.

Getting a little stoned and wandering through Costco is a 10/10 experience. I felt like a grounded and mellow version of Raul Duke, examining the full spectrum of the human being. Observed a guy driving what looked like a street sweeper, cleaning the floors and snagging drive-by samples. Are you not entertained? How wild is it to be anything at all? #costco #nostr
GM. Rise up. Follow the orange towards a better world. In the words of Terence McKenna, “have a plan. If you don’t, then you become a part of somebody else’s plan.” Rise to the occasion, and steer the ship. Let the orange glow ripen you into the person you were meant to be: free.

Spot on. It’s a hard reckoning. it’s kind of like the WEF’s sentiment of owning nothing and being happy. Sanity is refusing to eat zee bugs. Many will roll over for a belly scratch. Just hope we never have to cross that bridge. Sort of feels like we are at a very pivotal point in history. We are living out the fork in the road meme.
Yeah I’m class of ‘19, it’s definitely hard to see the train leaving the station when there’s still plenty of family and friends who haven’t bought a ticket. I only have two other people close to me IRL that stack. I guess we gotta have grace since everyone’s on their own journey. Might be a catastrophic melt-up situation that bootstraps mass desire to study up.
