In an effort to keep my social media presence, and my life in general, as family-friendly as possible, I try to not swear. But sometimes the gravitas is lost with alternatives. Do I give up and let my inner sailor out, or leave myself sounding neutered at times?
Nah, they took advantage of what was available, like us buying cheap sats now. The weak men who created these hard times are the fiat money printers, and those who built the fiat money printing machines.
People are complaining about farmers market food products being more expensive than imports. Bruh, cost of living in Canada is WAY higher than where most of your food is coming from. Also volume drives costs down hugely.
GM #coffeechain. 3:30am. Yesterday overslept and spent the day blargy, today the opposite. We’ll see how the blargy thing goes once I’ve been up for a while.
Being up this early I’m reminded that the days are getting shorter now. Eating breakfast by the light of Level1Techs reviewing NanoKVM.
Wendell has way more deep knowledge of this stuff than I’ll ever need, but even just hearing the words helps with sysadmin things. I’ll be working on something and a keyword will trigger a memory, giving me a thread to pull on.
Hot take: Ceilings are the best place for posters.
What are the current favoured video options on nostr? If I have supermegachonker video I want to post but don't want to burden whatever external media host my client has hardcoded, is an unlisted YouTube video the way to go?
I see media hosting in most clients is handled the same way as it was before my break. Clients automagically upload the chosen media file to whatever external hosting is either hardcoded or set in options. But I'd like the option to host my own while maintaining the convenience of uploading directly in the client. Anyone else doing this? Any clients support this?
In my current case I have 2 from shuttered businesses from years ago. I've kept them partly to avoid identity theft (highly unlikely, very edge-case), and in the past the cost was negligible. But now...
If you're connecting it to their "Buzz Cloud", I'd treat it as very similar.
Did you try testing a restore with Sparrow?
I've been looking for a...grandmother-friendly...replacement term for "shitposting". Gonna try out "basedposting".
In related news, the "based" subdomain on my personal domain now redirects to my nostr profile on njump.
At what point does one abandon old domains? Or is buying one a lifetime commitment? If I had FU money I wouldn't care and would keep them forever, but that is not my current situation... 😅
Hot take: If part of your culture includes rude / disrespectful behaviour, that culture is bad and you should change cultures, or at least stop participating in that aspect of that culture. Culture is no more a valid excuse for rudeness than religion.
My paid nostr relays expired while I was gone. Before I blindly renew them, are there any current / updated lists of high-quality paid relays? Bonus points for Canadian domiciled.
Would you pinky-promise in advanced that if someone successfully mines a block on a CBP Bitaxe that you'll have them on the show?
For two days now I've worn ankle socks with my cowboy boots, and no one has tried to stop me. Pretty sure no one has even noticed. Take that, fashion police!

There are two kinds of people, those who want chickens, and those who don't.
Reading Alby's documentation it looks like Alby Hub gives you the option of connecting to your own node or using their Alby Cloud service (see screenshot from one of their videos).
Hub itself isn't a node; it looks more like a...wallet and connection interface? It looks easier than assembling a Bitcoin stack from scratch, but more self-sovereign than exclusively using something like CoinOS (I do use CoinOS [and love it], but not exclusively).
"The same people that used to write their passwords in a notebook before password management are now telling me they can't self custody their coins because it's too hard to write down 12 words". 🤣 - nostr:npub1w4dsvkv5hq73p4wm6gadpcxs6fwshcys44f5tnnzze2g3hfs2p0qn23vhw nostr:npub1s63scxcxwte2jyend9zge8slsn8f6hexc9nkrkvwqq9ck88ctuhq39tl0j
The people in my circles who say writing seed works down is too hard are using the same password for everything 🤷♂️
The thing that hits me biggest about this is the plain text bodies. My emails (with other humans) are still mostly plain text (email signatures are a whole 'nother discussion). Modern email interfaces are fine, it's the content that's gotten worse. Make plain text email bodies great again.
