I was thinking this could be the perfect opportunity to onboard a huge amount of redditors to Nostr. We should create some campaign focused on onboarding these people to Nostr.

Thoughts on inscribed handles as nostr usernames? Basically you inscribe a text file on bitcoin ordinals, if you wanted the username @batman you would simply inscribe the text @batman and the first person to inscribe that would be the owner of that username. And there can only be 1 owner of each unique username.

This would result in self custodial usernames that you own instead of the situation on web2 where companies like twitter and instagram can take away your username. Also it's better than using web2 domains which aren't decentralized as your username. You could then tie @batman to your public key and that handle would be your username on nostr. I started a project called inscribed handles and I have some of the rarest handles which I want to give away to the nostr community to increase adoption.
