However, you're forgetting about Uncle Sammy...Snowden was over a decade ago...that work has been kept up, expanded, and supercharged. I like the option to customize. I just do think the people building this plaform, both folks like you at the heart and those helping develop it out & provide content, are overly focused on monetizing. When someone has a quality product/post, people will want to forward their money, and many people are craving microtransactions. When it's constantly requested/expected/demanded, that's a turnoff from a marketing perspective. People will be wise to remember the majority of consumers/citizens don't want to feel that every interaction is pay to play. Either way, the customizable feature caters to all mindsets.

I believe they can but it would basically be dependent on trust and no one sharing the address and key, similar to a Zoom password for a meeting, and I do believe you need your own relay for that, which is set up as private from the jump otherwise it will go "out there." I assume and hope DMs are private and encrypted.
