In Islamic belief, Maalik (Arabic: Ω ΩΩ°ΩΩΩΩ, romanized: mΔlik) denotes an angel in Hell/Purgatory (Arabic: Ψ¬ΩΩΩ , romanized: jahannam) who administrates the Hellfire, assisted by 19 mysterious guards (Q74:30) known as Zabaniyya (Arabic: Ψ§ΩΨ²Ψ¨Ψ§ΩΩΨ©, romanized: az-zabΔnΔ«ya).
They appear namely in the Quran in verse 96:18. Identified with the "Nineteen Angels of Hell" in 66:6 and 74:30, they are further called "angels of punishment", the "Guardians of Hell", "wardens of hell", "angels of hell", or "Khazanatuha" (keepers) according to 67:8.
