I wasnโt brave enough for nostr violet. But still pretty unorthodox colour for a boat.

Small steps
Tedious but important to restore her to her former glory. This is some of the first places that I found holes in the hull.

Never would have thought the straight grinder would be this useful.
Needed to remove the fittings for rigging and barberhaul in preparation for painting underneath the railing.
Canโt think of any way to be more precautions of the hardware when I first decided that the rusted nutts would have to come off destructively.

Sure! Itโs a Dutch built 41โ van de Stadt from 67. I have been patching holes in the steel hull by welding. Now work to finish the outside before winter. This winter I will make the boat liveable and install a new engine before sailing next summer

Ah yes, extra annoying is that my timed window for welding is up for the day.

While I wonโt receive any prices for my welding today, at least Iโm getting better at it. And welding upside down was never easy.
This is the exhaust port getting patched shut. Whether I make a new one is up for debate.

This engine might be too far gone. The reason I need to take out the engine in picture.
There has been a saltwater leak that has sprayed the right side of the engine. For all I know it may have been going on for years before the boat got in my hands.
Disappointing, but it is what it is.
