Designer & developer. Helping improve bitcoin design with many others at https://bitcoin.design . I write a weekly update at https://gbks.substack.com . ✌️

Not sure you really want to see the mess that is my code... are you asking just out of principle, to see if you can trust the code, because you like to see community projects, or otherwise? So far I have prioritized quickly iterating in private because the project has mostly been a playground for me.

Not yet, as it’s a huge mess because I’m just wildly coding and changing things.

who made https://nosta.me/ ?

it's exactly what I had in mind when I wrote a couple months ago that we needed a micro app focused on onboarding people.

Great work!

#[0], is it yours?

Hi, that’s my project. Very much still a work-in-progress, and I’m happy for any feedback.

I posted my weekly update. As usual on Substack, but this time also as a NIP-23 long-form note. Would be nice to have YouTube and Twitter link expansion. https://blogstack.io/naddr1qqyxvdf4xgmxxdmrqywhwumn8ghj7mn0wd68yttsw43zuam9d3kx7unyv4ezumn9wspzpde3ulaauhqe94unlafq5mkfra5ktawclgdkfcfpwyyf5e09gpf9qvzqqqr4gu72ft49

Two big projects launching soon. Super excited for it.

Haha, you are going quite hard. Awesome to see your output.

Alright, on the way to Advancing Bitcoin now. Excited to meet, chat and exchange.

Thanks to whoever send me some sats. I cannot tell where those came from or by whom. So... thanks internet.

It's pretty clear that we need muting (words and people), blocking and reporting (NIP 56). I'd also like to see a more fun "transform" feature that turns insults into compliments (someone writes "you're stupid", I see "you're the best"). Twitter is only high-signal for me because I have hundreds of people muted/blocked, and some key words on my mute list.

# #52 An even shorter one?

_Half family trip, half work._

My work week started Wednesday afternoon after getting back from a family trip. Was a great time to get bitcoin off of my mind, and then it was straight back into action with core and community calls that afternoon.

For [Saving Satoshi](http://savingsatoshi.com/), we are heads down now on getting our demo out. I spammed our [demo milestone](https://github.com/saving-satoshi/saving-satoshi/milestone/1) with a ton of minor polish things that should be tightened up for a first low-key release. Lots of stuff to do across lessons content, story, design, image generation and development. But it’s the part of the project where a long to-do list of really small things is the modus operandi, and that’s totally normal. It can just feel a bit overwhelming due to the broad spread of the to-dos.

The [Satlantis review call](http://satlantis.net/) was super interesting. Game design is a really intricate art, and there’s plenty of overlap with designing applications (like onboarding, designing for different types of player personas, etc).

After a discussion came up around Nostr onboarding not being great (sparked by this [note](https://damus.io/note1skcywhsxkr545kmydfkka45u964ypy4u74ycgmw9gqx3t5850ugqe9nlte)), I shared some work-in-progress on a Nostr web app design I’ve been toying with. Everything is in this video (and a [live link](https://nosta.me/gbks@nosta.me)).

The Bitcoin Core App ([design docs](https://bitcoincore.app/)) dev gang is working hard at wrapping up development for V1. Next week, Mo and I will put together some documentation around testing (test build is [here](https://github.com/bitcoin-core/gui-qml/pull/211)) and launch. Also need a bit more design documentation (small stuff like input field validation logic).

But the big thing next week is [Advancing Bitcoin](https://www.advancingbitcoin.com/). Time to wrap up and release a new version of the [UI Kit](http://bitcoinuikit.com/) and get that workshop ready. It’s going to be super exciting to meet all those builders that make this amazing ecosystem tick.

# 51 A short one...

_A finger in every pot._

This week was a quiet one, a bit all over the place, so I’ll keep it really brief.

Let’s start with [Saving Satoshi](http://savingsatoshi.com/). There’s the [weekly image generation](https://www.figma.com/file/0Fg2IiEbLI5o8juawKqkJM/Saving-Satoshi-images?node-id=103%3A915&t=BSgXEvq0ZL3TLSbR-1) for Chapter 4, along with various discussions and mini-tasks around milestones, personas, UX details, the story line, PR reviews, etc. The team is smack in the middle of building, pretty much. The project requires a lot of time and focus right now with so many moving parts.

[Advancing Bitcoin](http://advancingbitcoin.com/) is coming up, so took care of a few tasks for our next milestone. I added the workshop video and some basic case study summaries to the [Bitcoin UI Kit website](https://www.bitcoinuikit.com/info). Had discussions with Chris around component structure and design system organization. Luckily Chris has some super handy plug-ins to keep things orderly, which is a surprisingly complex and opaque task. I’m excited for the next release and the conference.

Planning for [BTC Prague](http://btcprague.com/) is also progressing. Still early, but sounds super promising.

Jarol is hammering away on the Bitcoin Core App. Latest pre-release [review PR is here](https://github.com/bitcoin-core/gui-qml/pull/267). Try it out and leave feedback if you have a moment.

I enjoyed the call with the [Simple Crypto](http://simple-crypto.app/) team this week. Nice turn-out and a good conversation.

Helped Mo a bit with her [PR](https://github.com/BitcoinDesign/Guide/pull/981) for adding User Personas to the guide. Also joined the [UX research call](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sXQUNYnJvtU). Super nice to see around 10 people in there, all excited about open research. Also wrote a [document](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1PGjkV1CSWPRuyyfM-A9CQJS116V8qp4VUMrq0RYnj_w/edit?usp=sharing) listing out projects that happened in the design community, as a way to reflect and help decide what types of research and design tools are useful based on past needs.

And the usual day-to-day conversations, planning, helping a little here and there, etc. I’ll be off until Wednesday for a short break with the family, so I took care of a few things for next week, like newsletter editing. Should be all in good shape there.

And that’s it, have a good weekend.

🏂

Hooray, I received my first scam DM on Nostr 🚀

"Handle" and "Username" (vs "Display name") are also pretty established. Better than npub are also nprofiles, as they include a relay.
