Bitcoin is going to fix everything. Don't worry, keep calm and stack sats. Don't understand why? Study markets, money, and history. Start here: Bit.ly/StudyBitcoin

At some point Bitcoin will be further divided and the decimal shifted. 21 sats today will someday be dividable into hundreds of millions of smaller units.

Add in roaches, "home schooling" (not real home schooling), and conspiracy theory doomsday parents. 🫠

I love being an adult. Life is 1,000,000 times better now! 😁

Money has 3 uses, 1: Store of value, 2: Medium of exchange, 3: Unit of account.

Using Bitcoin as savings to store value over time is it's primary use, that facilitates and enables the other 2 uses. You wouldn't accept anything as a medium of exchange if it didn't hold it's value over time.

We're getting more stable over time, but the fact remains that Bitcoin's primary use currently is still store of value and it likely always will be.

But we're getting there, and stacking is absolutely using.

GM. 🌅

Should wallets include a metric comparing the current wallet holdings to the time required by the network to mine that amount?

It's a more concrete unit of account against Bitcoin than the dollar is, and it's a value that only changes at the halvings which would facilitate it's ability to be used as a unit of account as things could be prices in TIME.

What do y'all think about it?

It would go like this:

2024 - 2028, a wallet with a balance of 1,000,000 SATs = 1,920 milliseconds of global hashrate. That's about 520.83 Sats per millisecond.

2036 - 2040, a wallet with a balance of 1,000,000 SATs = 15,360 milliseconds of global hashrate. That's about 65.1 Sats per millisecond.

2052 - 2056, a wallet with a balance of 1,000,000 SATs = 245,760 milliseconds of global hashrate. That's about 4.07 Sats per millisecond.

If we think of sats as representing the value of time itself, and how saving for longer increases the time value it holds, then the value of Bitcoin and Satoshis becomes much more intuitive.

Congrats! I like cycling. 50 Miles is my longest ride which I've done a few times. 12 - 25 mile rides are just casual fun.

I call this a win for Bitcoin.

Why?

Because Bitcoin empower the individual and not the state.

Every time I hear people talking about "X country will declare Bitcoin as legal tender..." I just laugh. They have no idea what is legal tender.

Bitcoin CANNOT be legal tender! To be legal tender it means to be endless DEBT.

Bitcoin is to empower the sovereign individual and not the states!

Let's stop this crap bullshit with "make Bitcoin legal tender" ! Is a total fallacy! Instead, focus on empowering individuals using Bitcoin every fucking day without any gov permission.

What is a "legal tender"?

A “tender” is the name given to a small boat that “tends” to the needs of a larger ship, usually by transporting people or supplies from shore or another ship.

With the word legal referring to a contract, the term “legal tender” means to “tend” to a debt sometime in the future, by way of contract.

Meaning, by using legal tender the debt is never paid, as the “small boat” never left the “shore” to deliver the “money”.

These are contracts (legal tender):

Any retailer or individual could refuse to use a legal tender. Nobody can force you to use it. Why? What is the point of a legal tender then?

The point is that you cannot force a retailer to accept legal tender or indeed any other form of tender. If, however, you buy something from them and there is no contractual barrier to the use of any form of tender, and you offer legal tender in payment, and they refuse it, then they cannot enforce the debt in court.

That's what legal tender means: it's about discharging debts. If you incur a debt you can discharge it with legal tender, but you cannot be forced to incur the debt in the first place, if you see what I mean...

Solid take. 👏

Alright nostriches. I finally have enough done and feel comfortable to share my progress on HAMSTR.

You are about to witness perhaps the first ever(well outside of the 2,000 ones I have done testing, lol) nostr note retrieved exclusively over HF packet ham radio.

There is no Internet access on this browser at the moment at all.

It is a client - server setup. The client is fully off-grid. Only the server can connect to the internet. For this test, the server is was roughly 500 feet away using dummy loads on my radios putting out virtually zero watts. Yes, not far, but in theory it would similar at hundreds and even thousands of miles away as well.

This test pulls my most recent notes from my fake dev account following list. In this case 1 note. The number of notes is configurable, but keep in mind HF Packet Radio is SLOW. This one note takes quite a while for just tiny note from nostr:nprofile1qqsywt6ypu57lxtwj2scdwxnyrl3sry9typcstje65x7rw9a2e5nq8sprpmhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuumwdae8gtnnda3kjctvqydhwumn8ghj7un9d3shjtnzd96xxmmfdecxzunt9e3k7mgpp4mhxue69uhkummn9ekx7mq9hxafw. Future versions will have FM Data packets as well, but line of sight FM was not my goal. Global coverage was. HF radio is the only way for that.

Most functionality is now working, just ironing out some things and lots of bugs. Following, global, search, hash tags, npub search display names, are all basically working. Soon replies.

What started out as a project for me to use some social media and take camping and do some off-grid nostr stuff has now morphed into something that I believe will be able to help millions of people be able to bypass oppressive regimes, firewalls, tyranny, and allow them to interact with the nostr network using nothing but ham radios. This could be massive for learning, comms, and overall freedom. Could have a server running in France, and connect to it from Russia or Afghanistan for example. Easily within HF radio reach for half the world.

Much like the winlink email network, I hope people will be able to take my project and setup servers all around the world for people to access, read, write notes, send DM's, use various nostr kinds and even send Bitcoin(on chain offline transactions over HF radio and nostr coming soon).

Lots to come!

Note: pardon the phone screen cap, it isn't quite working fully android Firefox or chrome yet.
