Red Dawn bucks the trend but essentially the goal of most 1980s films is a comfortable, happy life, with fine sinuses. Even after beating the Emperor or something.)

CPU at 80%+ utilization, for a malware scanner, during a relatively trivial update. I've somewhat ranted about this in the past but Windows updates seem very inefficient. I wondered if it was some weird SSD/NVME thing but I'm running it in a VM and can do fairly disk heavy tasks outside the VM so it's not DRAM/NAND weirdness. It's Windows weirdness.
I know it's be ideal to schedule the update for night but it's a laptop so I try to do updates as they come given available time. I've love to know more about what the Windows Module Installer Worker is actually doing because it takes the same time as recompiling a medium large app. It's make sense for Android or other OSes where there is potential bytecode rejigging or heavy compression or hashing on a mobile CPU. Or a Python framework like NixOS.
This one was a fairly quick cumulative update at around 20 minutes without cockblocking* the keyboard for ages during the reboot.

There's a media figure/controversialist with a controversial interview, being shared on the 'big social media'.
I know about it because one of their algorithms recommended a video of someone commenting about the interview.
I don't have a problem with the content of the video, because I think a cure for nonsense is so much nonsense the default position is scepticism. Freedom of speech can work. I haven't watched the video or the responses to it for the same reason I don't watch dogs taking shits.
But, I suppose the point I'm making is, at least on this side of the Atlantic, there has been a concerted push towards regulation of social media because of fears about misinformation, state involvement and harm to young people.
I haven't been recommended anything like that on Nostr because it doesn't. I'd have to specifically seek it out rather than having it pointed at me. If it did I could change client. I'm not tied to doing things one way. It's as easy as any other social media. Amethyst just works (on this phone at least).
The video got a reaction out of me, which is what the 'big social media' algorithm wanted but I'm not given them the benefit of a reaction on big social media.
Disengage with Nostr. Get a techy to hep if stuck (lots of ways to get on Nostr):

Absolutely great until a person gets to the humidity. It's not especially misty or raining. It's like trying to sleep in a sweaty cloud. Thankfully it's no longer warm.

Got on to reading about Kubernetes. Which I wanted to hate, but actually seems like a sensible technology that solves many problems. Also interesting, but not interesting enough I can be bothered to find out, how much of the current technology has existed in earlier, often much more expensive, very proprietary, forms. Like virtualization and 'cloud' computing in general. Which I think is more like the Thylacine, as opposed to one or more great grand parents 1024 generations ago shagging a neanderthal. Convergent. Although maybe the neanderthal bit holds true in as much as processor design, Unix and general computing principles underly it all. So a Thylacine whose great great great grandparents - no. The metaphor breaks down. Old stuff influences new stuff and new stuff isn't that new stuff but is new stuff. Most evolution metaphors are bullshit.
