Shoveled a lot of manure, for an allotment, but I do rock a smock. I smell a bit shitty though.

Clear. That was short (I felt more ill later Saturday before I got a solid line on Sunday) somewhat unpleasant, and somewhat weird (I still feel a bit fatigued but I have an autoimmune disease and it's difficult to disentangle that).

Framed #586 (I seem to recall that wasn't a bad film. Finished Wilderness. I worked out the plot arc from episode 3 bar one minor deviation from what I thought would happen. Well acted and memorable enough - just a bit of a caricature of itself. I couldn't help but think it would be better if they all caught chlamydia.)

Let's assume this is a good argument - then the question is are the potential mitigations, or cures, worse than the disease? Zero COVID isn't an option. I feel like there isn't a real discussion of how to live with it - just risible articles like the BBC piece, or nutty deniers, or those who are very cautious. Or do we accept some people are going to be knackered by it but overall it's better for everyone (which I think is the logical conclusion from that BBC piece). Everyone is in camps. So how can we have a grown up discussion about it?
I just had bacon and fried egg. With toasted bread soldiers.

Framed #585 (I have seen this one. Yesterday I watched half of Black Bear. I'll watch the other half tonight. It's nice to see that, between Black Bear and Wilderness, America has successfully culturally appropriated the "Bourgeois People in Unusual Situations That Make Them Examine Their Life In More Detail Than Normal" French film genre. It also applies to 50% of novels ever, in any language, any genre, from any culture. There were people examining themselves and broader culture in more detail than necessary while renovating their cave, because a family of farmers from the fertile crescent moved into their cave village. Today I am a bit lemony.)

I haven't been especially unwell but I've had a couple of bouts of abnormal fatigue and I don't feel quite right. That feeling odd and tired bit is the one thing uniting my late November 2022 experience and the October 2023. As such I don't have a sore throat, no cough, and I'm barely nasally congested. So far November 2022 was worse, although maybe it's better now because I had it almost exactly a year ago.
General COVID observations:
I have no fever and would be quite capable of working/mixing with other people. It would not be easy but it wouldn't be difficult. That has to aid its spread and current policy in the UK almost guarantees that.
Compared to a cold it's odd. I feel weird, for want of a more specific description. It's COVID weirdness - something I had the last time. A cold almost feels familiar and normal. COVID feels alien and surreal. It's hard to explain.
I had flu last year and I'd strongly suggest a 'bit of flu' is probably not influenza. Flu was the sickest I've felt as an adult. I couldn't get out of bed, I had a fever, and felt like a giant had used me as a cushion. And I had a cough that took a couple of weeks to clear.
With this bout of COVID, I have a specific autoimmune condition, there doesn't seem to have as much immune suppression. Last time autoimmune disease activity stopped during, and for some time after, the COVID infection. Correlation does not equal causation and I'm very wary of drawing any conclusions from individual, subjective, experiences including my own. Maybe my body recognises it this time.
Now there is population level immunity I don't wholly disagree with UK government policy to basically let it run its course. It does worry me a little that COVID could be a bootstrapping code for flu or RSV because of its immune system effects and that as monitoring COVID has reduced it's going to be harder to spot. Although if COVID was bootstrapping other stuff a person would expect excess deaths to go up, but not from COVID because population immunity to COVID exists.
It's all very interesting. I'll be better soon. Excuse any typos or grammar errors. I like people but not enough to check.
It could be my general mien, but today's Octadordle Rescue was pleasingly difficult.

Bloody annoying. I don't feel worse than a 1/10 hangover and this is the 3rd day since testing positive. Only matters because I will be coming into contact with a vulnerable person. Otherwise I'd not bothering. I'm basically ok.

Bored poopless isolating myself from pretty asymptomatic COVID so I've mentally compiled a top ten "list of my favourite hip-hop, rap or adjacent songs, with the caveat they come from really great albums that I can remember right now". I think because I'm bored of puzzles. I stuck to last two decades to keep the list short plus a lot I like aren't necessarily online.

I may be cynical but artificial sweeteners are also cheaper than sugar and 'less calories' = good is logical. It's also a red herring one the case of soft drinks. Aside from tasting like someone (we all know who) dipped their willy in them. Ronald McOliver or whatever he's called.
Drink water, coffee, tea, actual fruit juice (in moderation if diabetic) or milk. Sugary soft drinks were bad but the replacements are worse on "every" level. Particularly coupled with fast food (which isn't a problem in itself - high consumption of it is - still got the, albeit minimally processed, shish/kofte/chicken/lamb/beef/pepper/onion kebab plus salad with sumac, olive oil, pitta, lemon, hummus, and extra chillis, craving. With a large bowl of arnavut ciΔeri as a side. COVID is bloody weird. I don't feel ill though. The 'not all fast food is bad', mostly true, mental excuse. Two or three triple cheeseburgers from McDonalds is getting there - a lovely meal in itself.)
I'll keep occasionally banging this drum. The artificial sweeteners thing, in the UK, disproportionately affects the poor and the uninformed. Tap water is pretty good with ice.
(from the video description - I love reverse remixes. They're like a puzzle.)
This was left in the comments by Josh Abrahams himself:
fishtankfishtank
hi folks, this is a remix I did of the original (I also produced the original). Me and the boys swapped a mix for a mix - they did a remix of one of my songs, and I did this. Since the track was already an instrumental dance track I had the odd idea of doing a reverse remix; turning a dance track into an indi pop track, with vocals and all. The female vocal is my good mate Lara from Fourplay. The male vocal is me. You can pm me and I'll try email you a copy of the track.
Bacon & eggs etc are difficult to photograph unless cooked especially for that photograph and mostly eaten bacon and eggs don't look good at all in my opinion. So no pics but it did happen.

Framed #583 (nah, but it looks like exactly the kind of film I would watch. Yesterday I watched: The Complete Series Four of Thomas and Friends. 3 episodes of Humf. Thomas' Christmas Wonderland. A compilation of the Christmas episodes of Thomas and Friends. The Thomas Adverts from Channel 5's Milkshake! and other Thomas Adverts. Mostly on fast forward. Repeatedly. One of my younger but adult relatives is autistic. It was a joy - I don't mean that sarcasticly, I like doing it. It is a bit mental though. I have a semi encyclopaedic memory of Thomas episodes primarily before series 12. And some Balanory (no, I really wouldn't like to know). Centered around which ones they like. I was not trying. Oh, and I caught COVID, but other than a serious craving for mixed kebabs and meat I basically don't feel that bad. Hyperosmia (like a dog), and food tastes like when I was a kid - a deluxe supermarket curry is too salty - I ate all the meat though. Maybe a protein craving. I'm salivating at the thought of a fry-up in later today. Worried about vulnerable relatives getting it. There are no nearby kebab shops open at 4am and I am concerned chilli sauce may be too salty.)
