Framed #799 (nope. I watched MasterChef and an episode of Outer Range. I managed to get some exercise in the form of a few miles brisk walking and some shopping. It helped a lot although been in pain takes getting used to when out and about because, I think, on some subconscious level our animal brain is telling a person we're more vulnerable than we actually are, which manifests as impatience or anxiety. Although that's usually more at the start. Still in a moderate* flair up. Usual Saturday.)

* Moderate, in my opinion, is distracting but not so distracting it's pervasive and the ability to move about. Like mild ADHD. For instance I an't move my neck from side to side in the morning and joints/spine hurts to begin with, like been severely bruised, but I could move about which helps a great deal and by lunch I can move my neck. Severe pain is a different thing. So I don't want to overstate it. It's not that bad. I have had worse, and so do other people regularly. It's worse been depressed too and I'm not depressed, in fact I'm chuckling away at how grim it sounds.

Framed #797 (nope. I watched Obituary on Netflix, which is silly/charming/great, and a film called The Booth At The End. Which was good but I'd mostly guessed the plot by half way although I'm not sure I got the ending. The acting was good although I'm not sure I liked the sound design. It's like an extended Ray Bradbury story. I am somewhat flared up. I may do Wordall later. I wish there was a 'turn off that crap' AI toggle. It's very useful for repetitive tasks, I'm not knocking the general usefulness or potential, but I often know what I'm doing and its suggestions seem trained on people who do not. It seems like an awful lot of power consumption for stating the obvious or what people *usually* mean. Maybe the current iteration of AI is simply to get people up to a level where they find AI annoying.)

Framed #794 (nope. I didn't really watch much yesterday. Played Scrabble relatively poorly*. I made a vegetarian (because of ghee) red lentil dhal which a quite rich curry base which I further enriched by making a tadka which included lots of garlic, chilli and further spices. If it was just for me it would have had more chilli. I think one of the reasons Indian subcontinent vegetarian recipes have loads of chilli by European standards is ghee, or clarified butter, because the capsaicin in the chilli is fat soluble. Like if someone has a milkshake or other milk based drink when consuming chilli peppers. It's still very spicy but it doesn't linger for the same time. More of a peak and a gentler tail-off rather than a peak that lasts for minutes. I'd give it 7/10 because I'd like to have added a stick or two of cassia bark while cooking, an Indian bay leaf and more chilli. But I had what I had to hand. Anything over 5 is good, like IMDB. It's hard to make dhal that isn't edible and it was good dhal.)

Framed #793 (nope. I watched The Eurovision Song Contest and I think the right country won (Switzerland) although I think France would have if they'd had the same artist but being more pop music oriented, France was amazing in the 2024 Eurovision but not toe tapping. All good pop music's longevity is appealing to the maximum number of people without being crap. I was up very late and have slept little. Yesterday's dinner wine wine a well rated DOP Primitivo that's a bit repetitive but basically pretty good. The problem with drinking in moderation is I've got half a bottle left, about 150ml a day, (Vacu Vin, fridge) and that's where French wine blends are are bit more thought out and complicated. Not that single grape wines can't be complicated, or interesting, but my least favourite drinkable wine is a passable or good Cabernet Sauvignon. I don't dislike it but it does make me want to read a book. Obviously everyone like different stuff and that's normal. I don't know that much about wine but I do like interesting things.)

Nostr is not perfect, I think everyone would acknowledge that, but many of the criticisms I've seen of this interview* center on the implied stance that a decentralized protocol (I still think of Pied Piper) removes liability. Which misses the point:- people can chose to develop applications or front ends to Nostr with any level of censorship they want. The point is the protocol is censorship resistant and open - not the front end(s).
There is zero reason that someone couldn't create a Twitter clone complete with private key management on a corporate server that exactly behaves like Twitter - complete with removing peoples ability to post by not letting them use their private key. Defeats the objective for many users but technically feasible and cheaper than setting up a new social media platform from scratch.
It's an oversimplification but think of http (Nostr) versus a website (front ends for users). Criticizing the open nature of Nostr is like implying the very open Internet standards were anti-business.

For dinner I ate devilled kidneys and drank Minervois. It was an excellent dinner other than the bread which was Chorleywood bread. It's basically like Victorian times with less infant mortality, TV, double glazing, electricity, less smoke/horse poo, modern medicine and television. And also I'd have more likely referred to the wine as claret and moaned about the Whigs, policy in Ireland and used imperial units. Unless I was somewhere else in which case it would be different.)

Framed #787 (nope. I watched The Game (1997) which was good but really an example of how a quite bonkers screenplay can come together with good acting and good direction/cinematography and produce a film that is greater than the sum of its parts. I googled whether other people had noticed the similarities with The One Game* (1988). I say similarities - that kind of paranoia preceded either, that pretence of god like competenceβ , and it'd be wrong to imply that The Game Ripped off The One Game because 'influenced by' is fairer and doesn't imply unfairly** appropriating something else. An argument could be made both films were influenced by things preceding them such as The Twilight Zone or a bunch of other things. I don't buy into single influences and I think then nearly impossible. There are rip-offs but they're a minority of things and are usually financially as opposed to creatively motivated. Anyway, people had noticed the potential similarities and some other people had seen a quite obscure British mini series from 1988. I think under such circumstances acknowledgement of influences is fair but money and litigation often makes that tricky. The creative version of patent trolling. The song did not rip off the Pac Man theme tune, it is its own thing.)
