Why not try add an option for Damus users to buy sats via Apple like on primal app? The sats could be sent to user’s custodial/non-custodial LN wallet, and you take a small cut. While helping new users have a taste of the orange pill… and embed video tutorials or wizards to guide new users to setup from a list of recommended NWC/LN wallet.

influencers gain “customers” via ideas instead of building physical or digital products. there is a lower bar to entry here, as it takes very little work to become a thinkboi.

Another thing influencers can do is invest in companies and people who build stuff, this is a co-adaptive situation where the company gains the benefit of adoption via the influencers and the influencers get paid from the growth of said company.

I feel like this adds a lot of fakeness to certain online interactions, and I don’t want that to do things like that. I have very much enjoyed just talking with users directly, building stuff that they ask for, just being open and real. Maybe I can build a successful product this way, maybe thats too naive.

Primal’s iOS and Android app are insane. They are feel better than Twitter, damus feels janky in comparison. If it worked on my account and without caching servers it would probably be my daily driver.

Performance & user experience is 1000x more important than the latest cool new feature that makes your app slower and more confusing. Offload complexity into micro apps. Keep it simple!

The more i read this apple guideline the more I realize it can be used to remove any bitcoin or p2p payment app at any time:

“Apps may enable individual users to give a monetary gift to another individual without using in-app purchase, provided that (a) the gift is a completely optional choice by the giver, and (b) 100% of the funds go to the receiver of the gift. However, a gift that is connected to or associated at any point in time with receiving digital content or services must use in-app purchase.”

Specifically:

“a gift that is *connected to or associated at any point in time* with receiving digital content or services must use in-app purchase”

This means when users start saying “zap me with your email to receive my art”. Then this would give apple an excuse remove Damus at any time, even with only profile zaps. This is true of every p2p payment app as well from what I can tell.

Not to mention: “100% of the funds go to the receiver of the gift”. So what about miner fees? Apple could argue miner tx fees on bitcoin txs violate their guidelines. This also means damus splits + support star are very much not allowed and they won’t be pushed to the app store 🥲

Overall everything is very vague which gives apple the ability to remove your app for any reason. Fun
