Giving the latest LinuxMint a go.
I’ve been using Ubuntu for less than 24 hours and I think I really need to go back to Fedora, Ubuntu his just to jenky these days. Seems like a lot of stuff doesn’t work properly anymore.
I installed Ubuntu for the first time in a couple years. Not sure how I feel about it yet.
I am wondering what the @Frame.work 16’s battery life is like.
I have been narrowing down my future laptop replacement. It’s between two vendors, System76 and Framework. I think Framwork is in the lead, but depending on what System76’s inhouse custom laptop turns out like they could take the lead again. If I get a desktop PC it’s System76 all the way.
After just a little bit of being back to playing WoW, I already feel like it’s getting out of hand. It is such a good time waster. I can burn a few hours a day easy, but maybe I should be reading books or learning something?
As Zoom tries to address privacy concerns with their terms of service over AI use, I still have to write them off as a company. The AI training features can be turned off by the admin of the video, but how many admins will even still know it exists let alone users. It should be opt in, not opt out.
I’ve been back at playing World of Warcraft for 3 or 4 months now and still don’t have what they refer to as a “main”. I’ve been jumping around from class to class. I only have 1 at lvl 70 which is a Warlock. But I think I am settling into this Monk healer as of late. It may become my main.
Library and school, chicken or the egg? https://timapple.com/2023/08/04/library-and-school.html
I would love it if @prami@social.lol and @manton collaborated a little with the OMG.lol some.pics as to make it cross pollinate with Micro.Blog and vice versa. Would be really cool.

Younger folks may not know how true this actually is.

I’ve been enjoying using WPS Office as my go to office suite. It does great with PDFs and feels really light on resources. Everything opens pretty fast.
Noticed Threads has the “following” timeline now. Instant nicer experience on the app now.
Are you ever in conversation with someone at home and siri just chimes in with some babble about some song or artist you don’t even know and starts playing their songs through your homepods? I’m pretty sure I didn’t say anything that sounds like “siri” to get her attention in the first place.
For some reason this morning I am missing watching “Grizzley Adams”

Mac users, question? That track pad is huge!.. how is it when typing. On my Windows laptop I have to turn tap to click off because I’m always accidently moving the cursor with my thumbs.
The day @GrapheneOS@grapheneos.social gets the camera working as well as the native Pixel camera I think I will be able to switch to full time use.
Another thing I have been trying of late is WPS Office for my document and PDF needs. The only drawback I see so far is I can’t save in OpenDocument format, which I don’t use much anyway, but it’s a nice to have.
I moved back to Proton for my email, calendar, and passwords a few weeks ago. I also started using Ente for photo backup. My next move is migrating off of my Google Voice and using MySudo for other numbers. I’ve subscribed to it for over a year, but rarely use it, time to remedy that.
I regularly toy with getting a Mac. But I think I should get a Framework 16 when I upgrade someday. It just makes more sense to have something I can fix and is upgradable and recyclable.
