The idea of micro transactions and paywall is insane that I do not sleep at night, I have seen it to play and get rewarded on Super Mario (video o few days ago) or paying to give food to chicken or to activate an electric train. ⚡️😎

What the hell are Zaps? Or what's the difference between Lightning tips and Zaps?

Simply put, Zaps are Nostr aware Lightning tips. They are integrated with Nostr in a way that allows the sats sent to be tallied and displayed on an individual user's note. Everyone can then see the value of that individual note. That is the key point.

If your Lightning wallet does not support Zaps, you can still send Lightning tips, they will just not be counted and displayed on Nostr. You can still send and receive sats! This is the whole point of Value for Value.

The only Lightning wallets that support Nostr integration (NIP-57) are the following:

Many others are working on adding support for this. This includes Wallet of Satoshi, BTCPay server, Bitcoin Beach, and probably many more.

Well you can't have fedipool without StratumV2 so the latter is a must. fedipool helps further decentralize pools. Even with V2 a pool could technically reject the block sent by miners and use their own( I think), Fedipool would spread that responsiblity onto multiple guardians (essentially many pool operators) which should reduce the risk.

Please being ecash adds privacy to a miner's payouts. It's an interesting concept.

right, but i think that’s still stratumV2 haha. basically you need 1 or more miners behind a bitcoin core node, and the core node creates block templates. the benefit i see here is you can choose for yourself in stratumv2 how cooperative vs decentralised you want to be.

not saying fedipool is a bad idea, or stratumv2 is better. just trying to understand if fedipool adds anything new, and it doesn’t seem like it does. but maybe fedipool gets more traction?

The miners are accepting these out of band payments because they are bringing in more fees then on chain transactions. If pools do not share those OOB fees to miners, miners will eventually catch on and move pools.

As real financial transactions start to increase on chain, people will be willing to pay higher fees forcing "inscriptors" to keep up or stop. Although, I may not agree with it, we're seeing a free market in action right now. It's not always going to play out the way we want but the incentives behind #bitcoin should help to keep everyone honest and the network healthy.

Ordinal Inscribers are now paying Bitcoin mining pools to construct blocks for them with zero or minimal financial transactions, so that all of their images get inscribed in sequential order. They are not using the normal block construction methods. They are including these in the next block over the counter or behind closed doors. This has happened 3 times so far with 3 different pools. Luxor, Foundry, and the latest one was from Terra Pool. These out of band blocks are creating a secondary marketplace outside of Bitcoin's normal block construction methods. Miners are now talking about selling blocks before they are found. Thoughts?
