It is. For most people.
But it will be also boring to work until you die.
If you think about things that require constant hard work, e.g.: eating healthy, excercising, etc. They are all boring. But they will reward you. Also their rewards most of the time seen by others as hard work, and they will "hate you" for your "success".

Those who spend their money on the things "they can afford", won't save, and actually they can't really afford these things.
If you can buy something it does not mean you can afford it. Affording comes, when you can lose what you just bought and it would not make you broke.

When you can buy the same thing for lower price, don't be ignorant and think you can afford it. Do the extra mile.
Of course not doing it, can be justified as well, but make this as your second nature. Make spending less the average case, and make ignoring it the special case. Not the other way around.

Think about seasons e.g. usually during school holidays more people will travel, because people with kids can only travel in that time.
If more people travel, it is more expensive. This is due to the fact that there are same amount of accomodations for more people, so they can offer it for more.
Therefore, if you are flexible, you can choose times to travel when less people travel, so it becomes cheaper.

I think a good take on investing is:
You need money to live.
You have to spend time to earn money.
If you invest, you make your money work for you.
Therefore you will have less work to do.
So all in all, when you invest, you gain back your time, but when you spend you sell your time.
If you want to buy something next time, you can think about if the thing you want to buy worth more then your future time.
