I guess you can't say "it does not give a shit", or can you? π
What is YOUR psychology of money?

Good morning!
Save and become independent!

The more cashflow you have, the less you have to work.

"Happiness is not having more things."
When you buy a new thing, you can feel you are happy of course. But this will wear off quickly.
Why?
The feeling you feel when you buy a new thing is not happiness, but joy. Joy is when something external causes you good feelings. On the other hand,
"happiness is an inside job"
Happiness is something, that you do for yourself.
Both happiness and joy can feel similar, but the greatest difference is that joy wears off quickly, because it is caused by something external, but happiness stays, because you make yourself happy.
Unfortunately we are bombarded from the media each day that this will make you happy, that will make you happy. But they can only cause you joy, as that one is from external influences. Therefore they often try to blur the lines between them, so they can say buy this something and you will be happy.

So you mean, we must consider something like a big mac index?
Definitely! This so much more nuanced then this!
I think you shall do your own research, and find the best way for yourself.
Here I wanted to raise interest, so that people will look into this more.
Why do you think it has to include the wage brackets though?
This is why #minimalism and #frugalism pays off π

Learn the notion of "alternative cost".
Alternative cost or with other words opportunity cost, is the lost benefits of not making another decision.
You can use this to measure in money, but in anything else as well. E.g.: If you work a lot, you don't have time for your family.
This is an important perspective if you want to make good decisions. This might remind you, that you shall not only consider/compare doing or not doing something, but you shall also add to the comparison doing other things as well.
E.g.: Buying a new TV. You could think that your alternative cost is spending that money. But you could also invest that money, save it for an apartment, buy x number of beers, etc. But by buying that TV, you basically cut off the other options.

True!
Also comparing your work hours/cost between these groups could give another great perspective. E.g.: For how many weeks could you buy groceries if you did not buy that iPhone.
Good job mate! π€
If you want to live sustainably, you shall create cashflow instead of spending your money.
Explanation:
If you spend your money, it is gone.
If you create cashflow with it, you will earn more money with it again and again. In an oversimplified manner, you are basically multiplying your money if you create cashflow with it.
Cashflow: investing (dividends, appreciating principal), renting (apartment, car, etc), publishing media, etc...
This will allow you to either earn more, or work less.
In my opinion, creating cashflow is more important then collecting items. Why? Because later, you can buy your things from your cashflow, then will keep on giving to you.
But let me clarify that I am not saying you shall eat ramen for the next 30 years to do it. But you can. π€
The journey is different for everyone.
And last but not least: don't trust me, verify!

"How much work time does that cost?"
An interesting way to think about cost of an item is:
how much time do you have to work to buy that?
Hypothetical example:
iPhone 15: $800
Hourly wage: $15
Cost: 800/15~=54hours ~= almost 7 days
You can use this to justify if you really need that item.

I think there is an interesting type of lifestyle, which I would call:
"The firefighter"
1οΈβ£ who always reacts on problems, and never prepares.
2οΈβ£ who is always concentrating on the now, that forgets to prepare for the future.
3οΈβ£ who eventually gets in a loop of solving yesterday's problems, that he has no time to solve today's and prepare for future's problems, therefore he will have hard time breaking out.
Do you know such person?
#asknostr #coffeechain #plebchain #grownostr
For me, financial freedom means the following:
1οΈβ£ Money is not forcing me on any decision
2οΈβ£ No stress about money, or getting fired
3οΈβ£ Any time I can change work place
4οΈβ£ My lifestyle does not force me to keep a bad but high paying job
5οΈβ£ I can chase my dreams if I want
6οΈβ£ If I have a stupid idea e.g.: to live 6 month in a different country, I can do that
What does it mean to you?

If you think saving is not for you.
If you think you can't live without spending all your money.
If you think you can't save more.
Let me tell you that are already doing all of it, just you don't know about it.
You do them via taxes. Depending on where you live, e.g.: If you live in Germany you can pay between 0 - 45% based on salary + 5,5% solidarity surcharge + 8/9% church tax.
That is pretty lot. But as the whole amount never touches your Konto/bank account, you have less hard feelings about not getting it.
Also you don't really control where your tax money goes...
So let me tell you, that you are capable of living with a 30-50% "savings rate".
Now go back to the "Savings rate vs total work time until retirement" plot, select the highest rate you are not ashamed of, and when you reach retirement, you can keep working, just your priorities will change, you might want to work elsewhere or part time, or do something else. Only your mind will be in your way.

They go hand in hand. Great concepts. π€
Trust == risk.
If you can solve something without trust, you minimize risk. Sounds a good move.
Do your own research!
Applies for all things.
If you trust others,
- you might be fooled,
- you might not get aligned perspective for your life
- you might not get all required information
- etc
But this does not mean you can't ask for and accept help, just evaluate what they say based on
- their "agenda",
- their knowledge level on the topic,
- what do they benefit telling what they tell
By asking others, you can get keywords to search for, topics to dive in, etc. So you can ask, but don't trust blindly.
Just my #coffee thoughts.
