Freedom Manifesto: Venezuela’s Democratic Leader Defines the Nation’s Future
(Caracas, November 18) — María Corina Machado, leader of Venezuela’s democratic forces, published this Tuesday a manifesto setting forth the foundations to begin the reconstruction of Venezuela once the transition is consolidated.
The document, released in The Washington Post and on the social media accounts of the democratic leader, states: “We, the citizens of Venezuela, are not appealing to power or privilege, but rather to the eternal rights that have been bestowed upon every human being. From this foundation, truth is born: no ruler, faction, or tyrannical force can dictate what is ours by right — freedom.”
In this sense, the manifesto explains that dignity is the catalyst that will once again lift the hearts and minds of Venezuelans. It will inspire hope and create a new world where Venezuelans will rise from this dark era of oppression with an unbreakable mission: to be free.
“For in a free republic, the people alone are sovereign; because our popular and national sovereignty is inalienable; and because Venezuelans know that freedom must be defended every single day — there is no place for fear,” the preamble declares.

Written by 2025 Nobel Peace Prize laureate María Corina Machado, the manifesto presents a plan for the nation founded on respect for the rule of law and freedom in every aspect of life.
