What do you use for listening to podcasts?

I use Funkwhale for my music collection and had my podcasts in there for a while. However, I ended up not listening to my podcasts very much since they were hidden among my much larger music collection.
So I moved my podcasts feeds to FreshRSS, which I was already using for RSS feeds. I like the simplicity of using something that I already had, but it doesn’t have any podcast-specific features like being able to resume where you left off.
Do you have any podcast listening apps that you like?

Tesla’s sales in several key European markets continue to decline sharply in Q2 2025, despite the new Model Y, which was blamed for disappointing sales in the first quarter, now being available.
Over the past couple of years, Tesla’s sales in Europe have been declining.
In 2024, Tesla delivered 11% fewer vehicles in Europe compared to 2023 – despite having ramped up production at its Gigafactory Berlin, where it produces Model Ys for the European market.
While this was already a bad sign for Tesla, sales started to decline at a much sharper rater in 2025 compared to an already bad 2024.

European Union privacy watchdogs fined TikTok 530 million euros ($600 million) on Friday after a four-year investigation found that the video sharing app’s data transfers to China breached strict data privacy rules in the EU.
Ireland’s Data Protection Commission also sanctioned TikTok for not being transparent with users about where their personal data was being sent and it ordered the company to comply with the rules within six months.

TikTok, whose parent company ByteDance is based in China, has been under scrutiny in Europe over how it handles personal information of its users amid concerns from Western officials that it poses a security risk over user data sent to China. Luigi Mangione prosecutor recused from case

The top federal prosecutor in Manhattan has been recused from Luigi Mangione’s case.
“The Government also writes to inform the Court that United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, Jay Clayton, is recused from this matter,” attorneys from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York said in a letter to Judge Margaret Garnett on Wednesday.
Newsweek has contacted the district for comment via email. Mangione’s attorneys have also been contacted for comment via email.
Luigi Mangione in court
Mangione, 26, is facing federal and state charges in the fatal shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson outside a New York City hotel in December.
He pleaded not guilty to a federal murder charge last Friday. Federal prosecutors have declared their intent to seek the death penalty. Mangione pleaded not guilty to state murder and terrorism charges in December.
The letter did not explain why Clayton recused from the case, but said that Perry Carbone, the district’s criminal division chief, will serve as the attorney for the United States in the case.
“Mr. Carbone has conveyed the same to the Office of the Deputy Attorney General, which confirmed that it will in turn notify the Attorney General,” the letter said.
President Donald Trump announced in April that Clayton, a former chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission, would serve as interim U.S. attorney for Southern District of New York while the administration pursues Senate confirmation for him to serve in the role full-time.
Wednesday’s letter also amended an earlier letter to Garnett that described the handling of a recorded jail call between Mangione and his attorney, Karen Friedman Agnifilo.
The earlier letter has said that a paralegal at the New York County District Attorney’s Office (DANY) had “immediately stopped listening” to the call after recognizing it as an attorney call.
“In fact, the paralegal listened to the entire call, then subsequently informed DANY prosecutors about the identities of the people with whom the defendant spoke,” Wednesday’s letter said.
“DANY thereafter handled the matter as described in our previous letter. Moreover, DANY notified defense counsel of these facts in an email, dated April 22, 2025, thus, counsel was aware of this information prior to arraignment.”
Mangione is next due in federal court on December 5. His next appearance in the state case is set for June 26.
No trial date has been set in either case, but his defense team have said they want the federal case to take precedent because it involves the death penalty.

Success Story: Baby Owl Reunited!

Last week, we received a young brancher owl that had wandered about 1/8 of a mile from its nest in Point Judith. Thanks to a call from KPD Carpentry, one of our vets, Dr. Snow, quickly responded to assess the situation and safely retrieve the owl.
While on site, KPD Carpentry noticed another young owl, along with the parents, in a nearby tree, confirming that the family was close by and still actively caring for their young. They continued to keep a close eye on the family while we conducted a full health check at the Wildlife Clinic of Rhode Island.
Bloodwork for lead and rodenticide exposure came back clear, and the owl was deemed healthy and ready for return. Thanks to the collaboration between our team and KPD Carpentry, the owl was successfully reunited with its family and is being carefully monitored to ensure everything stays on track. So far, so good!
Thank you to everyone who helped give this young owl the best chance at thriving in the wild where it belongs!
Energy transition: the end of an idea

(…) As I see it, people need to stop talking about transition and instead focus conversations around three other things. First, we can still welcome technologies like renewables, but we need to stop hailing them as saviour technologies that will rescue the high-energy business-as-usual world. Second, we need to start talking about energy priorities – what people need, rather than what they might like to have. This in turn means talking about global fairness, about how the energy pie is divided up, rather than talking airily about transitions to an abundant low-carbon, high-energy future promising prosperity for the present global poor. Any genuine concern for fairness has to be as much or more about lowering the wealthy than lifting the poor. Third, it means talking about adaptation to climate breakdown and other forces likely to upend the familiar contours of the present world, because a transition isn’t on the cards. Ultimately, I think those conversations lead to agrarian localism and a small farm future.

What do you do on wash day and between?
mine: wash day, Malibu C hard water shampoo, Innersense Hydrating conditioner, their Serenity Styling cream. Comb it through, flip head over and rake it through upside down. Scrunch, then scrunch with a soft microfiber towel. Wrap it in the same damp towel (between a plop and turbo twist arrangement) while doing skincare. Then let the hair down and gently clap some gel through, diffuse (sometimes hovering, sometimes scrunching, depends on how it’s looking).
Refresh, everything except the shampoo.
Mini-refresh, sometimes I can smooth on some mousse or foam and the added definition is enough. Sometimes it looks good and I can hairspray. If it’s stretched out those don’t work though.
