So nostr:npub1qny3tkh0acurzla8x3zy4nhrjz5zd8l9sy9jys09umwng00manysew95gx gave an absolute masterclass on the problems with Musk's current Twitter approach on WBD, starting at the 17m mark. It's a great advertisement for Nostr and I recommend everyone watch it.

I've been retweeting or reposting Odell's various observations on this topic for a while and so I'm happy to share this too, including on Twitter today, even as a filthy blue-check myself.
Where I disagree with Odell (slightly) is on tactics. He thinks people should give up blue checks in protest. And that's a very fair position. I don't disagree, especially for someone like Odell with a purist position and a generally cypherpunk audience.
But I think there are multiple successful paths on this. I have always been a Twitter fan, and my normie audience is there. I wanted to be able to pay for better UX and anti-impersonation defenses for years before they became available. Just because Musk is running it doesn't mean I won't pay for helpful services, especially if they protect my audience. Real people lose money to Lyn Alden impersonation scams if they can't tell my account from others, and I directly hear from them when it happens. It's always heartbreaking.
So, I'm on the offensive, not the defensive. The way I view it, unless or until someone censors me on Twitter, they're locked in there with me, rather than me being locked in there with them. If having a blue check reduces the success rate of impersonation scams and amplifies my reach at calling out Twitter's problems, I'll have the blue check. What I absolutely *won't* do is change what I say based on a blue check. If anything, I purposely overdo it to the opposite and exaggerate my criticisms on purpose to push back against platform incentives.
Two simultaneous approaches:
1) Call out the problem on Twitter. Don't give Musk a pass. Point out that a pro-freedom, pro-anonymity view doesn't match with what is going on there. Don't let his rhetoric disguise his inaction. If Twitter cares about freedom and anonymity then they will offer a paid option that doesn't require identity (e.g. the "orange check" bitcoin payment.) Until something like that, they are LARPing and are fair to criticize as such.
2) Have your foot here on Nostr and on decentralization technologies generally. In the long run, I think this is the future. And more importantly, I hope it is.

"musk's rhetoric"? tell me: what's bitcoin, lyn?
what's fucking circle jerk joke. "permissionless" identity hunting disguised as "freedum money" - sucking in desperates as bounty hunter legions who don't really understand what they're signing up for until they are too far invested to escape, or too scared to try.
β#Tesla appears to be ready to take #Bitcoin payments again after briefly doing it a few years ago, but stopping after pressure about going against its mission.β

i doubt it. in its current state anyway. literally speaking.
i didn't listen but "sticker bounties" is data theft and identity targeting - in simple terms. if bitcoin is for everyone, everyone should have access to the terms and be able to understand it and thus make informed decisions about what is actually happening. that's the nature of free markets - otherwise its not authentic competition. it's manipulated uptake based on inaccurate fundamentals.
unless your phone gets mined and you saved it somewhere on it. or if you wrote it down while near a smart device - and then it still probably opportunistically uploaded somewhere. and since scraping happens everywhere, your data being safe even within a wallet is probably a misconception. so. i wouldn't worry that much about it, personally.
really? where the fuck has he been? isn't he in charge of important things? or is this a passive aggressive, silly-ole-me way of trying to make a point about not using verification? either way: he's gonna swoon when he finds out there are alt ways to be verified without the checkmark. even without permission. be sure to catch him when he faints.
conducting an experiment this time to see if following the archive relays plus the concierge relays creates faster reach and exposure. no wallet this time either, same as before.
after these messages - i will be right back.
(in the mean time - an excellent hemingway book, even reviewed by the cia).

there's zero reason why people should allow compliance models to back them into a rhetorical corner. debbie and her bullshit today is a perfect example of what happens when someone reasonable and informed sticks to the truth: they are unable to defend their attacks against honesty and reason. just because you don't like hearing accuracy stated bluntly doesn't mean it's not exactly what people want to know - and it's profoundly unfair to subject the very people you secretly seek out to public torture and abandonment and scrutiny because you're a chickenshit opportunist.
people take and use my information all of the time and then they twist it into their filtered trash ideologies. which is their prerogative. my point is: why don't people ask the proper question of why they look for the source of what their peddling if they just want to warp it into their own messaging? the answer is: they don't trust the exact same processes of others they themselves use to distort information into code - so they try to find clear, concise, simple explanations which make sense and are as universally applicable as possible. it's why, in the end, everyone scrambles for plain english analysis - and i am able to interpret a wide array of codes into it.
the irony is: the very people who pretend they are the "original source" of the information are unable to do the same when left to do it themselves. and those very same people ruin lives like mine because it's popular to be mean to those of us who won't speak in code - but they clandestinely, desperately want what i provide to them for free.
i ask again: where are all of the intelligence analysts?
when the crossword police have no one but themselves to talk to, even they get sick of their own shit. lord of the flies.
i have no zap capability. π«‘π i don't have a wallet thingy or a little bolt β‘οΈ. but i do recommend, should you be interested, you run this ππ» on your phone while you work on nostr. especially while ill. ππ» it harmonizes the emfs on your device to a more bio-resonant frequency. βοΈπwishing you full recovery -
always exhilarating to have a new account! like cracking open a fresh notebook or journal the first time. even when i nuke account @s and carry on the same one with a new name - there's nothing like that fresh twitter smell. βοΈπ
wondering how working on nostr and getting emp zapped impacts that sore throat? "fire throat" etc. not that a strep test obviously wouldn't confirm actual strep throat. just making the comment that the radiation of the electromagnetic pulses from "zapping" decrease your body's ability to heal and recover as may delay your recovery time spent. βπ»βοΈ
