hi c: idk a lot about the topic but im trying to learn and protect m e and others here on the net

technical mechanisms that calculates #predictability works as subtle coercion because recommendation engines #operate on superior interests

public initiatives of mass surveillance proved that there could be no natural alliance between technology and government

the content of our communications is rarely as revealing as its other elements: the unwritten, unspoken information

that can expose the broader context and patterns of behavior

you can understand its potential for abuse

it’s really disingenuous for the government to invoke and sort-of scandalize our memories to sort-of exploit the national trauma that we all suffered together and worked so hard to come through -- and to justify programs that have never been shown to keep us safe, but cost us liberties and freedoms that we don’t need to give up, and that our constitution says we should not give up.

none of the things that we’d go on to share would belong to us anymore. the successors to the e-commerce companies that had failed because they couldn’t find anything we were interested in buying now had a new product to sell. that new product was us.

in an authoritarian state, rights derive from the state and are granted to the people.
