If you want it to be at full potential, yes. Ubuntu normally is broken with Nvidia proprietary drivers.
Better go with Elementary OS, Manjaro, Pop-Os, or Arch.
I would start by Elementary OS, or Manjaro. As they are the easiest and prettiest UI.
With those you will have full rendering capabilities without hassle, with Ubuntu you can definitely expect lot of troubleshooting and frustration to get it going.
Just one tip.
Since you said it was your main pc, your GPU will dictate the best Linux version for it.
If you have an AMD GPU you are basically ready to go with any, but if you have a Nvidia, well, the story is completely different.
