You have entire families spread in all structures of power for tens of years like the Kennedys which are everywhere justice, politics, government.

Bushes, Clintons, Trumps, Rockefellers and many other families and groups are always in charge.

I believe the peak of the American empire is behind us, but I do not believe America will descend into mad max style chaos or become a third world nation at any point.

Most likely we become like Europe. We have a permanent class structure. Some enhanced forms of socialism and we spend the majority of our days seeking pleasure and escapism.
