I believe the peak of the American empire is behind us, but I do not believe America will descend into mad max style chaos or become a third world nation at any point.
Most likely we become like Europe. We have a permanent class structure. Some enhanced forms of socialism and we spend the majority of our days seeking pleasure and escapism.
The New Empire will be virtual nomads connect by common good.

It's only natural. Power wants more power and wants to stay in power no matter the political system. Capitalism or communism is the same when it comes to groups holding their power and status.

There are groups concentrating power that control different parts of the state. They're not deep or on the surface and the surface and the deep are united by the same structures. They just are.
Meaning deep and surface is just what the public sees, an illusion, it's the same organism. Surface is the entertainment part that's viewable on tv 😁.
If you could up your standards in regards to food quality control similar to europe i see this as a win.

I think you still have the power to turn it around, but it’s a slim outside chance now. You have the least docile, domesticated population (still not great though). There is still a strong spirit of innovation, it’s just been misdirected by fiat. You would need the right political figure to claw their way into power and just act like a rational human being. I’m not confident that will be allowed to happen though.
The outcome is probably something like the UK, clinging to illusions of past grandeur whilst other nations with less baggage rise. Bullish on Latin America.

Agreed!! I have been saying this to people without many that agree with it. The US dollar will lose it’s World reserve currency status. Our government and corporations will have less influence on developing countries. The US should gracefully age, and not continue to try and be the world police force it seems to think it needs to be now. Democracy does not need to be defended in other countries. It’s a choice of the people, and must be won by the people of those countries if they want it. We should defend our own freedom and democracy on our own shores, and stay out of the business of others around the world. The US seems to be a sick nation right now in need of healing. A slower paced more relaxed European style of life may be just the cure we need.
