The protective order would restrict Trump from sharing evidence (documents, witness testimony, etc) with people other than his lawyers — including with the public via social media or otherwise.

These kind of orders are issued on a regular basis in both criminal and civil cases.

The difference here? Trump was already ordered not to make any communications intimidating or threatening any witnesses or potential jurors — and now he has.

He cannot be allowed to flout a federal judge.

He cannot get special treatment.

Treat him like any other defendant.
