Graphene's sandboxed Google play services feature is such a bitch slap to Google 😂.
Google: Give me all your data.
Graphene Users: FUCK YOU I WONT DO WHAT YOU TELL ME 😂
Figuring out psyops (idk what pill the rest of the world has taken)! Hiking! Love those too, I guess folks on nostr have a lot in common 😛
Ahh yes cooking, that something I've picked up recently, it's a lot of fun
I hope we can get past the why bitcoin is important/nostr is important conversations and just start having fun on nostr.
Let's get to know each other(without doxing) what are the three things you like to spend time on the most?
I'll go first.
- Love to learn: Physics, Maths, History, Economics, Software Stuff, Engineering
- Art: Love to play my guitar and write sometimes, not very good at it, but not bad either 😛
- Entertain myself: Leisure time Games/Movies/Books in that order 😂
All this only after some quality family and friends time 😛
Now your turn #nostr !
#reintroduction
One way to do an approximate analysis is to look at Google trends data
Seriously? It has crashed very rarely for me, it's perhaps one of the most stable nostr apps for me
My prediction is, it would take at least a decade or two for nostr to enter mainstream adoption.
Mainstream adoption: when most people have jobs that are connected someway or the other to nostr. Like it is with internet today.
It might still be quicker than bitcoin becoming a globally accepted medium of exchange though 😛
Nostr has a marketing problem, so did bitcoin in it's early years. Adoption takes time, these points are extremely valid and there's no simple solution, except to let the network effects take effect and maybe even try to accelerate them however you like we all are nostrs marketing department after all.
Agreed, we don't even need them here. I don't care if all of the people of the world end up here anyway , just the classy ones 🤙
I know a few good bitcoin devs who haven't looked into nostr yet, just because , they haven't had the time and "social media" is not really important to them, we haven't really sold ourselves as a "generic communications protocol" yet, so nobody knows, and even if they do there's always some token that keeps promising "the new internet". There are a lot of good folks still out there, not all of them use Twitter, hence the need for nostr isn't as immediate for them.
Nostr doesn't even have a fraction of the FOSS devs paying attention right now, we hardly have the attention of a fraction of the bitcoiners.
I can't even imagine the kind of stuff that starts being built once these folks with experiences in various domains start flowing in.
Saddle up.
https://github.com/MutinyWallet/blastr didn't know this was by the mutiny wallet guys as well
It is concerning
so only relay owners you're directly connected can see your ip(if that is your ip).
If there is a nefarious actor, and they are found out, you should stop connecting to their relays. (broadcasted events don't have your ip)
You can/should use broadcasting services or VPNs.
Also another thing to worry about, I don't think most clients are protecting against this(some are), people can also track you with image servers.
Since you load images from their servers your ip can be tracked by the image servers.
Long story short, use a VPN.
If you're not prepared for anyone doing anything they want with your stuff, don't make it open source, everything else is a stop gap, cause anyone can still do what you don't want them to do, probably outside of jurisdiction.
And the answer to that is to try to use the state itself to stop it? I don't buy it.
The stuff is there, "do with it what you want", says it all.
If the only way your project can make money is by others not being able to copy it or making closed source versions of it, don't make your project open source.
Only keep your projects open sourced if you're prepared for someone else to come in and make it better than yours, perhaps that's even what you want.
#FOSS
Unlicensed is also good.
MIT. Do the fuck with it that you want.
I'm not a big fan of any other "licenses", I don't need the state to help me keep my projects "open source".
We should change the "following/followers" usage to "subscribing/subscribers" the former gives off cultist "influencer" vibes.
Good morning nostr
Fun insights from pollerama 😅
Most people that have used pollerama so far prefer android over ios, prefer dogs over cats, messi over ronaldo, are likely coders, don't care about US politics, hate pineapple on pizza, like alcohol and prefer marvel over DC.
Follow a lot of hashtags like linux/gaming/research on which most of the posts are often mastadon prosts. I saw a post from a mostr bridge account zapped and it blew my mind 😅
Mastadon profiles have started adding lightning wallets to receive zaps via the nostr bridge?! ? That's some next level orange pilling going on 😅
Any plans to come to bangalore?
I can't wait for major clients to implement it, for the feature to exist.
https://pollerama.fun is a demonstration that zapless polls can work, and the fun design is a part of making it acceptable for people to use. If the major clients don't implement it sooner, then pollerama HAS to become the major client :P
Thanks for the help with https://pollerama.fun I hope I can match the designs some day, I do try to update and get closer with each update.
There are few like HRF and opensats that fund devs. If you mean an organization that "controls" nostr , then you have joined the wrong protocol 😛
Same. Here since the Dorsey funding 🤣
Not wrong, privacy and censorship resistance are at odds with each other, the same is the case with bitcoin, but atleast both of them have one thing in common: All data is collected against a pubkey.
You don't have to tell the world that your meatspace identity is the pubkey, or have different pubkeys for different jobs.
