The Australian Bitcoin Podcast I linked from fountain has some helpful info.

We used our accountant to set up the SMSF. That will cost a couple of grand a year in fees but he’s good and knows us.

We went with Macquarie Bank to hold the cash. It is then hit and miss which btc exchange they let you transfer to. They illegally cut you from certain bsb’s if they think the exchange is unsafe…that was stressful as they don’t give you an approved list. You just have to keep setting up an smsf profile with different Australian exchanges and hope they let you send money to it.

CoinSpot was at the top of a recent approved list I found and Macquarie let me use it. It took ages for orders to go through so clearly not very liquid but at least it’s done!

Don’t hesitate to ask any questions.
