ok OLED dark mode in openvibe makes it much more useful already, lol
One thing I will say about OpenVibe’s app tho is the notifications need to be redone 😭
Idk what it is but it just looks off.
Fine. I’ll give #OpenVibe one more real shot lol
It’s ridiculous how many apps have subscriptions nowadays..
I just commented about this on Rabble’s post. I think some sort of “engaging” signup/onboarding process could be useful — obvs it’s up to the clients to do this themselves, but still
if i’m being honest, i think nostr has the easiest and most frictionless signup to the point where you start to customise what you see. that’s a good starting point! no email or phone number required, but i think we might need to work on the “setup wizard” part which personalises the “platform” to your liking.
i know it won’t be easy since it’s up to tons of clients to do it themselves, but i think we have a good start but could do better with helping ppl understand the importance of their nsec & help onboard them a lil better
same for bluesky lol
easy to use from a user’s POV
i was discussing this with one of their frontend devs who happens to know a lot about the underlying protocol, and i think it’s sort of similar to nostr in a way. you login with username and password, but underneath there are keys which are signed.

#OpenVibe is really nice, but i’d really like to see a way to hide the feeds and just get a post window. a detox mode lol
#nostr is a vibe. that’s it.
Yeah on atproto this’ll likely always be hard since the relay has to collect everything from each individual PDS… won’t be real-time for sure 😅
but that’s the great thing about protocols, if atproto strives as a social media app (such as Bluesky or some insta thing) then that’s great, but Nostr could come in clutch for stuff like messaging/DMs.
That happened to me about 6 times on 6 different accounts.
I have my IRL Instagram account which has people I know in real life, friends, family, etc.. then I signed up for Threads with that account, but when some people from my school installed Threads, it started recommending my account to them…
So I signed up for a new account on Web, which ended up getting banned about a day later, similar sort of message as you got there. Signed up again and again, too.. same thing.
It’s annoying, I live in the Channel Islands in the UK, so a lot of products online aren’t available here, so Instagram account signups on web didn’t work initially, I had to use a VON, which in hindsight is probably what banned me.
Made multiple accs on web with a VPN set to the USA so I could access Fediverse sharing on the acc, multiple times (idk why I kept trying), then I just gave up.
Recently I signed up for an Insta account on my iPad to see if doing it on mobile helped, and it did. I tried on that since I didn’t give the app permission to my contacts so it seemed fine, that’s still the “techy” Threads account that I use now, it’s just annoying that you need an Insta acc for it. But I don’t really use it much, my main of these Twitter alternatives is Bluesky, I use Threads a lot as a tool to hoist ppl on Bsky lol.
But yeah, they need to up their game, I think they just use AI for a ton of their mod work, hence why a lot of people have been banned lately. Luckily protocol based social networks solve this, you can spin up your own account without the friction of a company, if you wish.
How do you get on this map? https://wherostr.social/map/
#nostr
best macOS nostr client?
also anyone got a crossposter from bsky --> nostr which doesn't require additional work? i have one which goes from my bsky account to mastodon by me liking my own post, then a minute later it checks if i have any posts which i have liked, posts it to mastodon, then removes the like. i want something lazy like that. not some other app like buffer which i need to post FROM
#asknostr #nostr #bluesky #fediverse #crossposting #crosspost #question
you can reorder it and replace it with anything else. you can even remove the discover feed if you want
Bluesky doesn’t show your posts to any accounts you’ve blocked, at least on the main client.
It’s so open that, yes, for now the blocks are public but they’re working on private states, so that things like private accounts & posts can exist. I’m guessing they’ll migrate your blocks list to that whenever it comes, but it won’t be too soon.
And you can enable a feature which hides your posts from anyone not logged into the official Bluesky clients.
Obviously because all the data is public anyone can fetch it from the API and look at, well, anything really..
lol who else is waiting for proper video player support
crazy how much of a difference that makes
