Paperless-ngx is a privacy respecting open-source self-hosted document management solution
This is a great solution for scanning or uploading any documents, images, e-mails, etc into your own self-hosted solution for home or business use. Nothing is shared out to other services, and being self-hosted, it's not going to get hacked in someone's cloud either.
All documents are OCR'd for full text searching, and separately saved into PDF/A format.
It's a great way to organise all your family, or business, receipts, contracts, images, equipment manuals, e-mails, etc so that anyone with the permissions in the family or team can find them later.
If being organised is not your thing, I also do a quick demo at the end of a good full-text desktop indexer/searcher, as an alternative, that will find your documents scattered across your drive.

Awesome. Thanks for the info. It's available for NixOS which is my goto OS. Keep it coming.
Don't blame Linux for that. I switched to AMD because of that and other things.
#OpenSource is not a business model; it never was
https://opensourcewatch.beehiiv.com/p/open-source-not-business-model-never
Duh. Of course open source is not a business model. With businesses it's about the bottom dollar no matter what the damage is to mankind. Open source is about making the world a better place. The open source movement is a philosophical belief that is not necessarily tied to software, but a way of thinking.
WTF is happening at the #NixOS foundation?
https://github.com/NixOS/moderation/blob/125fadfa6c3af1504fd3e35bde7820f06bad393b/moderation-log.md
Does this mean I need to stop using NixOS for a business project? If it goes belly up in production I will be totally screwed.
Please, NixOS management and staff, resolve this mess.
Let's keep NixOS great.
It just makes no sense that businesses constantly duplicate research. Let me use cancer research as an example. If the research on cancer was placed in a git repository then I believe that we would have conquered it by now. Greed sucks!

# ADOBE ALTERNATIVES FOR LINUX
Adobe just announce a new terms of service that say they will scan your content and do whatever they want with it. This privacy AND copyright infringement, along with their new ridiculous licensing subscription has a lot of people looking for alternatives.

nice job! been using Linux for twenty+ years and haven't heard of some of these.
I use 1Password to manage ssh keys to make it easy to jump machines or #linux distros. Is there another tool I can use to do the same. I actually use nostr:npub18q57qr3t07qljnapzqldaqa7ru2qwfpfnjdrwvhk327n3sc82f0qqwrs6f for passwords so 1Password is only used for keys.

keepassxc. there is a version for android named keepassdx available on fdroid. a version is supposedly available for Mac and windows.
You want to use a type 1 hypervisor such as kvm. This gives you direct access to your hardware and is very close to the efficiency of bar metal. Look up KVM, libvirt, ovmf, and qemu. After installation, you can install Windows on it.
