The DOJ has asked the Supreme Court to let Trump remove Cook, an appointee of former President Joe Biden, who has continued serving in her post since late August when Trump announced he would remove her due to mortgage fraud allegations that she’s denied.

The Supreme Court set a fast schedule for written briefs in the case but hasn’t signaled precisely when it intends to rule.

In the new filing, Cook’s lawyers argued that the Justice Department’s delay in asking for Supreme Court intervention until after the Fed’s last policy meeting on Sept. 16-17 was a possible sign the administration “understood the chaos” that might unleash in markets. It also undercut the government’s demand for “immediate relief,” according to the filing.

Cook’s brief cites a 2009 law review article in which then-Judge Brett Kavanaugh discussed how the Fed is insulated from direct presidential control because of its “power to directly affect the short-term functioning of the US economy.” Kavanaugh, now a Supreme Court justice, will be a pivotal vote in the case.

The largely conservative Supreme Court this year has largely sided with Trump in fights over his firings of other federal agency officials, but the justices previously made a point of distinguishing the Fed as a “uniquely structured, quasi-private entity.” A key question with Cook is whether the court will apply that distinction in a case involving alleged wrongdoing by a Fed official, albeit before she was appointed to her post.

Trump said last month he was firing Cook after Federal Housing Finance Agency Director Bill Pulte accused her of fraudulently listing homes in Michigan and Georgia as a “primary residence” when she obtained mortgages in 2021 to secure more favorable terms on loans.

In a series of social media posts over the weekend, Trump said Halligan was being appointed to the office to "get things moving," after attacking Siebert for his resistance to bring what Trump described as a "GREAT CASE."

Last week admin officials revealed that there was a "framework" for a deal following trade talks with China - which Trump said on Friday Chinese President Xi Jinping had approved.

Under the deal, a group of US investors including Oracle and Silver Lake will take a majority stake in the new TikTok entity, while ByteDance will maintain less than 20% equity to comply with the law. President Donald Trump will sign an executive order approving a new TikTok U.S. joint venture on Sept. 25, a White House official told The Epoch Times.

The order will extend China-based ByteDance’s divestment deadline for 120 days, giving U.S. investors and ByteDance time to seek regulatory approvals and close a deal.

The TikTok U.S. joint venture will have a new board with seven seats, six of which will be held by Americans with backgrounds in cybersecurity and national security. The seventh will be held by ByteDance, which will be excluded from security-related decisions.

In accordance with the law requiring ByteDance to divest itself of TikTok, ByteDance will retain a stake of less than 20 percent in the new venture.

The popular social media app has approximately 170 million monthly users, and White House officials anticipate that it will contribute $178 billion to economic development over the next four years.

U.S. cloud company Oracle is among the investors and will serve as the venture’s trusted technology partner, overseeing the app’s source code and security matters.

White House officials have said this means that Oracle will be tasked with taking its copy of the infamous TikTok algorithm, retraining it on U.S. user data, and observing it for any signs of malicious influence.

It is a role similar to the one proposed in TikTok’s “Project Texas” plan, pitched a few years ago, with a key difference being that ByteDance is no longer in charge of code operations and will no longer send U.S. data to China.

In short, everyone wanted to get rich from the stock market opportunities.

Opportunity, Patience, and More Money

By then, I had raised a six-figure sum from a handful of clients. I invested in undervalued stocks with a good performance record for the year. We saw an 18% return in 2020, then 12% in 2021.

In absolute terms, these were solid numbers with low risk exposure. However, you already know what clients want, right?

100, 200, 300% annual returns. That was the REAL expectation of the clients. Honestly, if I knew how to achieve those numbers, I wouldn't have taken money from anyone else to invest. I would have mortgaged everything my family owned and gotten rich in 3, 2, 1...

In the end, patience (or the lack of it) is what beat me. I always traded very little—maybe two or three trades per month. Most of my time was dedicated to reading, researching, understanding, and tracking the businesses we were invested in. Each month, I'd make small adjustments, either reducing or increasing our position based on the company's value movement each quarter or significant news.

Disillusionment or a Lack of Understanding?

The part of the financial market that frustrated me the most was always having to warn people about the risks and manage their expectations. And in the end, I'd hear the same excuses.

Investors need to understand how boring and complex the financial market is. In the end, what we know is just a drop in the ocean of what we don't know.

That's why my recommendation is (if possible): Never sell anything! Good investment ideas are rare. You're lucky if you have two or three good ideas a year, except during major events like the COVID pandemic.

We have less control over a company's price and fundamentals than we like to assume. I always recommend: have savings, avoid debt, have a three-month emergency fund, and have cash-generating assets or a highly specialized job (because it increases your salary).

Only then should you invest.

At the end of 2021, I returned 100% of the money to investors without charging my commission fee. Making 12% for the year wasn't enough for them.

Lesson learned: Create businesses where you have the most control over the outcomes.
