My wife and I have had many conversations on this topic - specifically the “how do we teach them about the internet and the tool it is/how to use it? How do we disciple and raise them up so they’re defining their relationship with this technology and not just having it defined for them through non intentional interaction with the internet or other bad actors (governments, big tech, and the plethora of the blob that don’t actually give a shit about their well-being). Anyway, I found your piece beautifully nuanced and well written. It was thought provoking and actually adds a lot to the conversation/spurs the conversation onward. We need to talk about this stuff as a culture and change. And honestly the presence of that content even on a place like primal/nostr based platforms bothers me/makes me pause in my desire to share the platform with others sometimes. The hard part is that I don’t think places like twitter/x, fb, instagram etc. are a good solution either and like you said - the problem persists anyway. One of the things I’m trying to figure out is how you can better filter/use relays to ensure that content doesn’t show up in your personal feeds-again thinking of how kids and other peers may use these applications. Because a lot of people will point this out as a reason to choose centralized and censored tech platforms instead because an algo or team scrapes csam content off the platform. Still, I am going to echo something you said recently because I think it too: Thank God for nostr. I’ve never read something like that on a topic that uncomfortable and real on any other platform. We need more real and difficult conversations that we can’t/don’t just cancel and shut out because they’re considered “pc” or scary etc. THANK YOU. 💜⚡️🫡

They’re participating in the btc economy. I have considered trying to produce things though and selling it for btc to try and get that going in my locale. Like raising meat birds and sheep then selling the meat for btc or maybe ancient grains to supply locals and local bakeries and offer discount if paid in btc. We have some experience in those things and everyone needs food/could definitely use good food. Lots of brainstorming going on, but yeah it feels like crickets out there where I’m at. And if I hear about it -like at my favorite produce market (local place) it’s that they don’t want btc due to volatility/it is obvious they don’t really know what they’re talking about and are just regurgitating cnbc.

Really interested in continually shifting my paradigm to thinking in btc terms, pricing the world in that, and trying to budget and live on some kind of btc standard. I think btc is obviously a store of value, but don’t think the sit on it and never spend it mentality is the end goal. I think we need to participate and model the world we want to see. In general I like supporting the musicians and not the large streaming platforms. We buy cds directly from artists when possible, but I’m not opposed to digital sourced online. I think our favorites so far are tomatoes. They always seem to outgrow the plant stand/light set up and the kids love seeing that.
