If you go to https://postimages.org you can upload your gif and turn it into a url that you can THEN add to your account when you edit your profile

To add a custom profile picture and background of your choice, just go to https://postimages.org and you can put in any file you want and get a url that will work for this app. It’ll give you several options but I found the “direct connect” url to work for me.
