I'll said I'd gob back and help clean up the weeds , I'll also pick up all of the litter tossed over the walls and fences when I can, littering really grinds my gears. We will have to be okay without for now.

We told Amazon about this months ago. We even showed them how to fix the issue. And when they didn't fix it, we published our findings and shared them with the media. By ignoring this security flaw, Amazon is undermining the core purpose of its own product – while still selling it to customers who likely don’t know it is not working as intended.

And the fix is simple:

Amazon could improve the security of the device by supporting safer Wi-Fi standards.

They could make the Ring Doorbells include a fallback mechanism if it spots unusual activity on its connection.

Amazon could also have its doorbells tell users when they go offline, and send notifications when back online.

Mozilla has long been a critic of Amazon Ring for its privacy practices, collaborations with law enforcement, and harmful impact on communities that are already heavily surveilled. Now, it seems that Ring can’t even deliver on its core promise to users - security.

We believe that the products that customers buy should at least do what the companies claim they do. Together, let’s make sure that Amazon adheres to the bare minimum standard that products can't be disabled by bad actors.
