I generally think it's a cup half empty vs half full situation. If I buy small amounts via an exchange, and immediately spend to a mint, then at least things stay consistent. If I buy small amounts kyc free, I could be buying from a known criminal. That could look even more shady. Also, why do I need buying bitcoin to be kept a secret? As long as the coins lead to a mint and disappear, what's the diff? Buying bitcoin is not a crime.
For option 3, assuming your money is currently in a bank, bank knows you are transferring potentially large amounts of funds to whatever payment method you are using to by coin.
As long as the system is opt-in, yes. And as long as I am not prevented from adding privacy or then switching to a privacy coin. Of course that's really where the problem is.
You can get started cheaper than you think.
I would swap out the nvme with a new Kingston KC3000 2tb. This will run Start9
Self hosting is such a horrible term. Self hosting implies hosting, like running your own server. I keep my keys offline.
Can you “remotely” connect an on-chain wallet (either on mobile, like BlueWallet, or on desktop, like with a hardware wallet + Sparrow) to a Bitcoin Core node (full or pruned) on a separate computer?
I have to believe you can, because you’re connecting to *some* node every time you use the wallet, but by default you’re just using the wallet service provider’s node.
In Sparrow you can choose a few others, like Bitaroo and nostr:npub1tr4dstaptd2sp98h7hlysp8qle6mw7wmauhfkgz3rmxdd8ndprusnw2y5g. But how do you connected it to your own node on a different device? Or to your Uncle Jim’s node? Or be Uncle Jim for your friends & fam, and connect their wallet to your node? Is it different if the node runs over Tor?
Many questions. Perhaps someone could point me in the right direction in terms of resources around nodes?
There is always more to learn and I fucking love it. Hope you’ve all had a stellar weekend, nostriches 🫂💜🤙

If I encrypt it before I send it to your server, is it your data either?
What if I send it into a cashu or fedimint?
What about 'right extremists'?

How/when can I share a post in nostr/Amethyst, to a user who also uses nostr/Amethyst, such that I can send them a link out of band, and it will open in nostr/Amethyst?

A minor issue, but this 'in app' browser is not ideal. I can't copy out the address in the address bar. Can't it just be a normal link that opens up in my default browser? I get here when clicking on the Source link in the app.

Quick test: Can your client render the IPFS image below? https://bafybeibr5yx2gie53vmsgptybfpxfc6ykf5polikw3azhctygs2vfszcre.ipfs.dweb.link/
No on Amethyst over TOR

Some open source app suggestions

My guess is the node on the other end performed an RBF with a higher tx fee.
I don't know how it works, but mine was set to 5 sats/vByte, and I was certain the coin was lost, but then it confirmed a few days later at 19 sats/vByte. I still don't know how it could have changed.
Did the fee rate change (sats/vByte), or did a low fee rate get confirmed?
Give it the alignment problem.
I have a book, 9 eggs, a laptop, a bottle, and a nail. Please tell me how to stack them onto each other in a stable manner.
