The only time I ever voted was in 1988 when Ron Paul was running for president as a Libertarian. I was younger and more naive then. I didn't realize that libertarians running for political office was an oxymoron and that voting Libertarian was still an act of aggression.

Implicit in the act of voting is the agreement to abide by the outcome. When you vote for a political candidate you are agreeing that the winner of the election represents you, even if the candidate you voted for lost. When you chose a representative you share responsibility for his or her actions. That includes all the drone bombings, taxes, and laws this person helps bring about. Voting is ultimately an act of aggression against other Americans and people all over the world.

The Folly of Legislating against Unfairness

"There are two methods, or means, and only two, whereby man's needs and desires can be satisfied. One is the production and exchange of wealth; this is the economic means. The other is the uncompensated appropriation of wealth produced by others; this is the political means."

The government needs people to vote to maintain its illusion of legitimacy. This works so well that people will continue to vote even if their only choices are Harris and Trump. There's another choice, don't vote for anyone. Opt out and stop supporting the government. Without its illusion of legitimacy it will lose its power over us.

You're right. I'm not sure how the movie quote made it into my collection of quotes, but somehow it did. I barely remember the movie. Here's the quote from the book. They're pretty much the same message.

"To vote is to wield authority; it is the supreme authority from which all other authority derives -- such as mine to make your lives miserable once a day. Force, if you will! -- the franchise is force, naked and raw, the Power of the Rods and the Ax. Whether it is exerted by ten men or by ten billion, political authority is force."

No one has a right to not be discriminated against. Freedom of association means people have a right to associate or not associate with anyone they choose.

All rights are property rights because every individual owns his life, his time, his body, and any justly acquired property. Freedom of association and all other rights are derived from property rights.

If a business owner can't refuse to do business with gay customers because of his or her religious beliefs, then equal treatment under the law would require black business owners to do business with Klan members, and Jewish, gay, and Gypsy business owners would be required to do business with Nazis.

Being forced to do business with people you don't want to is a form of involuntary servitude, and any form of slavery is always wrong.

Bigots are unsavory people, but they have the same rights as everyone else. Protecting your rights means protecting the rights of people you can't stand, because any law that can violate their rights will eventually violate your rights.

"When you vote, you are exercising political authority, you're using force. And force, my friends, is violence. The supreme authority from which all other authorities are derived."

On Secession and Small States

"The proposal to quit voting is basically revolutionary; it amounts to a shifting of power from one group to another, which is the essence of revolution. As soon as the nonvoting movement got up steam, the politicians would most assuredly start a counterrevolution. Measures to enforce voting would be instituted; fines would be imposed for violations, and prison sentences would be meted out to repeaters."

The system will not be changed by working within the system. The system will be changed with ideas. And one of the most important of these ideas is that voting doesn't change anything, Rather it lends legitimacy to the current system and helps keep it in place.

Real change will come through refusing to vote, stopping all other voluntary interactions with the government, and then sharing this idea with others. Ideas take on a life of their own and when they reach a tipping point they become viral. There is no way of knowing when this will happen, but when it does it will be fast.

There was a time when it seemed like the Berlin Wall was a permanent fixture in Europe, And then seemingly overnight it was gone. Within a couple of years the Soviet Union collapsed as well.

This can happen here, too. Don't vote. Pass it on.

"Resolve to serve no more, and you are at once freed. I do not ask that you place hands upon the tyrant to topple him over, but simply that you support him no longer; then you will behold him, like a great Colossus whose pedestal has been pulled away, fall of his own weight and break in pieces."

Welcome to America

"As democracy is perfected, the office of president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron."
