It's no problem I used Ubuntu on it some 12 years ago because Ubuntu was one of the few/first supporting all drivers out of the box. (Was the first and only time I used Ubuntu, I was really surprised how well it ran).

1 GB is absolutely no problem, really like NO problem.

It did everything, catching and recording time delayed(buffered) dvbt video via USB radio stick, chrome with multiple tabs, having thunderbird open all the time, downsizing torrents, using the xmms player integrated in fvwm via shortcuts.

Normal compiling tasks via gcc etc are also absolutely in the range of this machine, you don't need to wait years for it to finish.

Just run fvwm or another window manager that's low on resources.

The EeePC is so nice, looks like shit but really nice. Finally a Sub-notebook with full keyboard any pleb could afford.

Btw about geany, if you go to documents > set filetype , you'll find out that you can use it for several languages. So if you want something in python set it for python etc

Didn't need the stick to boot. Booted from the HD, twice.

I apparently have a better model than the normal one. 7.7 GB HD and dual-core processor. Probably why it can manage Mint. But some more RAM would be nice.

Sounds like when you installed it, you didn't set a mount point as it should. I'll take a further look though, maybe I'll find something.

It tells me that it can't boot from hard, so I have to F2 and switch to the stick, or just start with the stick in.

Hard drive seems to be fine, though.

What's the message it gives you?

If you can't see messages in general when it boots, try to remove the bootsplash (or just splash) screen.

It runs fine, but only boots from the USB, about 2:3 times.
