In this first episode of Dark Vegas Tales, we discuss how VC-backed compliant companies are leeching off the Ethereum ecosystem, and how adversaries are trying to hijack the cypherpunk movement with the slave tech dressed in web3 clothing.
The episode is over 2 hours long, so you can download the mp3 file to listen with your favorite podcast app.

Welcome to the dark side.
Aren't you tired of bullshit solarpunk memecoins using slave tech to spread their compliant messages? It's time for a lunarpunk anti-memecoin to take the stage. You can now sacrifice memecoins for BLOOD.
There are two different ways to sacrifice memes. The easiest option is to simply get BLOOD from Uniswap BLOOD/ETH pool. Once enough ETH is accumulated in that pool, arbitrage bots will automatically sacrifice memecoins in dedicated altars in order to purify blood and rebalance pools.
Get BLOOD directly: https://app.uniswap.org/#/swap?outputCurrency=0xe99523715a7ba4b84e379d226eb6f60b9a52d649
Another option is to sacrifice memecoins in the altars for PepeBlood, TurboBlood, and JesusBlood, and then purify contaminated blood with `purifyBlood' function in a dedicated contract.

Airdrop.
Spasm users have been rewarded with 1,337,404 BLOOD, worth around $250 at the moment of the airdrop. Nostr users who have submitted any message to any Spasm instance in 2022, 2023, or 2024, are also eligible for the airdrop but they have to provide a valid Ethereum address in order to receive a reward. All eligible users who haven't received the initial airdrop can reach out to `darkvegas` on Session or simply submit an Ethereum address as a comment to this post on the official Dark Vegas forum.

### Airdrop amount.
In order to expand the DarkVegas community and reward people for boycotting the legacy slave tech in favor or lunarpunk tech, users of the Spasm network have been airdropped with 1,337,404 BLOOD, worth around $250 at the moment of the airdrop. Admins of Spasm instances have received 10x more.
### Eligibility criteria.
Any user who submitted any message to the Spasm network (formally known as DegenRocket network) in 2022, 2023, or 2024, is qualified for the airdrop. Since most messages on the Spasm network are submitted with temporary guest accounts, which are indistinguishable from regular Ethereum addresses, the initial airdrop has only been sent to addresses that either have an onchain mainnet transaction history or have submitted messages to the Spasm network on at least two different days.
Nostr users are also eligible for the airdrop but they have to provide a valid Ethereum address in order to receive the airdrop.
All eligible users who haven't received the initial airdrop can reach out to `darkvegas` on Session or simply submit an Ethereum address as a comment to this post.
### Pure Blood vs Contaminated Blood.
BLOOD was launched on the Ethereum mainnet in June 2023 as a lunarpunk anti-memecoin. Unlike normal memecoins, which are usually paired against ETH in Uniswap v2 pools, BLOOD was mainly paired against popular memecoins such as PEPE, SHIB, TURBO, LADYS, and POOH in Uniswap v3 pools, which allowed users to sacrifice memecoins in order to get BLOOD. The market cap of BLOOD experienced steady growth mainly due to price appreciation of the underlying assets it was paired against in the liquidity pools and reached around $250,000 market cap prior to the airdrop.
Unfortunately, a lot of liquidity has been sucked out by the arbitrage bots, which were rebalancing the liquidity pools when prices of paired memecoins significantly diverged from each other. There were different ideas how to protect the project from arbitrage bots. The most obvious solution was to relaunch BLOOD with a high transaction tax, but Uniswap v3 pools cannot be utilized by tokens with such a tax. Using older Uniswap v2 pools instead was not an option because only newer v3 pools allow the distribution of liquidity across various price ranges to provide a more fair launch.
It was eventually decided not to relaunch the initial BLOOD token, but rather introduce extra wrapper contracts such as PepeBlood, TurboBlood, and JesusBlood, which should protect from arbitrage bots. Users can call a `contaminateBlood` function to convert pure BLOOD into pepeBLOOD, turboBLOOD, and jesusBLOOD, or execute `purifyBlood` in order to convert it back to BLOOD. Each wrapping and unwrapping operation has a 10% tax, which is sent to a `bloodJar`, which can be later used to either burn BLOOD or send it to a treasury, which itself can be used in order to fund new pools, airdrops, and other initiatives.
In order to protect from wrapped tokens being listed on centralized exchanges a `spillBlood` function was added, allowing anybody to drain 0.5% of contaminated blood balance from any NPC address every 300 blocks. However, contaminated blood cannot be drained from altars, which are Uniswap liquidity pools, where memecoins are being sacrificed. Contaminated blood cannot be transferred to other addresses, it can only be purified or sent to altars.

Hacking memecoins.
Part 1. What's wrong with the latest #memecoins?
In April-May #PEPE has piloted a very simple yet effective token distribution model using Uniswap v2 pools, which helped the memecoin hit nearly $2 billion market cap just 3 weeks after its launch, turning its early investors into multi-millionaires overnight. The similar token distribution model has been used by hundreds of copycat memecoins since PEPE's debut.
Let's have a quick look at this model:
- Almost all tokens are supplied to the liquidity pool paired against ether (ETH). In case of PEPE, it was paired with 2 ETH worth around $4,200 at the time of deployment.
https://www.ethvm.com/tx/0x273894b35d8c30d32e1ffa22ee6aa320cc9f55f2adbba0583594ed47c031f6f6
- Since centralized exchanges (CEXs) usually ask for a hefty sum of money as "listing fees", a portion of all tokens is saved in a multisig wallet to pay for CEX listings and other expenses like marketing. PEPE claimed to reserve 6.9% of the supply for such purposes.
- Liquidity Provider tokens (LPs) that represent a share in the TOKEN/ETH pool are burnt by sending them to a special null address or to a contract address itself, which ensures that the contract deployer cannot withdraw tokens supplied to the liquidity pool.
- The ownership of the token contract is renounced to make sure that the owner cannot withdraw any funds from the contract or execute any functions that can potentially hurt users.
- Discord, Twitter, Telegram and a website are used to spread the information about the project.
While this approach to token distribution looks very robust and many post-PEPE memecoins followed the same strategy with mild variations, it has major problems:
- The coin is very vulnerable to centralization in the hands of a few early adopters. For example, after the first liquidity has been added to the PEPE/ETH pool, it took just 2 ETH worth around $4,200 to buy almost half of the total supply of all PEPE tokens. To protect the token in the first few days of its distribution, developers added a blacklisting function so they can freeze the funds of certain addresses. However, that added unnecessary complexity, introduced attack vectors for exploits and legal persecution, and didn't really protect from insiders buying most of the token supply in small chunks using different addresses.
- Centralized exchanges end up controlling a large portion of token's total supply, which can be used to attack the project. At the time of writing, 20% of all PEPE tokens is held in only one wallet that belongs to Binance, which had previously used STEEM tokens of its customers without their consent in order to help a sophisticated adversary take over the STEEM blockchain.
https://www.ethvm.com/token/0x6982508145454ce325ddbe47a25d4ec3d2311933?t=holders
- Discord, Twitter, and Telegram are centralized web2 services that can censor projects and require an account to read messages. A website hosted on centralized hosting services can be shut down and a domain name can be seized.
- Lastly, a lot of recent memecoins are used as a gambling tool because many developers and early investors have a tendency to move to other projects after selling their tokens during a major pump.
In the next part we will look at how BLOOD is different from other memecoins.

Hacking memecoins.
Part 2. How is BLOOD different from other #memecoins?
- The BLOOD token is distributed using Uniswap v3 by providing the different amount of liquidity to different price ranges, meaning that nobody can buy half of the total supply with just 2 ETH like it happened during initial distribution of PEPE and other similar memecoins.
- Instead of deploying the whole token supply to the ETH pool, only a small portion of BLOOD is paired against ETH for cheap trade routing of low-value swaps. The rest of the supply is dedicated to pairing against various memecoins such as #PEPE, #TURBO, #LADYS, and #SHIB. When BLOOD succeeds, those memecoins will get forever stuck in liquidity pools against BLOOD. Thus, the phrase "sacrifice MEMEs for BLOOD and feed VAMPIRES" is used.
- BLOOD is a standard OpenZeppelin ERC20 token with "Ownable" and "Burnable" extensions. There are no hidden functions and the owner cannot call any special functions. The "Ownable" extension is only added so that the contract can be renounced, which will provide a "contract renounced" tag on various DeFi scanner websites. That approach is much easier than explaining to non-crypto-savvy people that some contracts don't have to be renounced if there are no functions that can be called by the owner.
- Dark Vegas uses only decentralized, federated, or self-hosted platforms for spreading information about the project and building a community of like-minded lunarpunks, cypherpunks, and degens. Nostr is used instead of Twitter, Session instead of Discord/Telegram, ENS instead of DNS, IPFS instead of centralized hosting. Thus, no single entity can censor the project without the consent of the majority of participants of different networks, which is extremely unlikely.
Whether you like memecoins or not, they have high chances to lead the bull market as we've seen a glimpse of that in May. Being the first lunarpunk memecoin, BLOOD is aiming at bridging the privacy community and cypherpunks with web3 enthusiasts and DeFi degens to reclaim our freedom.

Democracy is 💩
Western police states have succeed in creating a myth that democracy is somehow connected to freedom, safety, and equality.
They indoctrinated people in state schools and brainwashed them with mainstream propaganda to think that the choice is between the tyranny of the majority (democracy) and the tyranny of the minority (authoritarianism, dictatorship, oligarchy).
However, the actual choice is between an oppressive government and civil society, between state control and freedom, between regulations and free market.
Leave DeFi summer for 2020 and ICO boom for 2017. Welcome Meme summer 2023.

The Decentralized Finance is broken. What started as a cypherpunk revolution to free people from state and corporate chains ended up largely relying on centralized close-source services run by corporations, most of which are based in hostile jurisdictions and comply with all sorts of dystopian regulations.
Privacy folks avoid such centralized platforms, which leaves them on the outskirts of crypto innovation, confined to financial surveillance by the traditional fiat-based banking system. Bitcoin maxis, descendants of original cypherpunks, turned into the Amish, refusing to keep up with DeFi and web3 innovation.
It's time to bridge the privacy community and cypherpunks with web3 enthusiasts and DeFi degens to reclaim our freedom.
