In addition to what others have replied, the point of these relays is that the cost to use them deters spambots, as they’d have to pay for every pub they generate to spam the relay with.

That’s not even censoring, that’s a form of spam deterrent.

# To run a relay in 3 lines

## Prerequsites

Install docker

## Install nostr-rs-relay

sudo docker pull scsibug/nostr-rs-relay

## Run relay

mkdir data

sudo docker run -it -p 4100:8080 --mount src=$(pwd)/data,target=/usr/src/app/db,type=bind scsibug/nostr-rs-relay:latest

## Result

Relay will be running on port 4100 and events will be in ./data

#[0] would be very handy if nostream relays had functionality where for example going to "wlves.space/e/__note_id_goes_here____" would load that particular note on the web.

This way, #[1] 's new feature allowing a share link to a note could return a link to the first relay it finds that has that functionality, rather than one web service having to shoulder all the traffic of hosting share links. #[2]

if we slow down the bitcoin talk I think there is a bigger chance of attracting non-bitcoiners to nostr, and then they will be slowly turned into bitcoiners by proximity and by the quite usage of the lightning tip buttons (again, as long as these tip buttons don't scream on them that they must be already bitcoiners to use nostr).
