Formerly @PortsmouthBTC on The Dead Bird. Used to do some stuff. Finally started doing stuff again. Possibly the only Bitcoiner to have *actually* lost everything in a boating accident. ๐ŸŸ 2013 ๐ŸŸฃ2023 #photography & #boatlife & #growstr #fishing amd #vibecoding fan and reforming church goer.

Yeah it's great, the city needs a wee facelift atm, it's getting better but we need more art, more music etc

Some things to keep in mind - if you go GPU it's easy to build, but you'll be mining shitcoins - if you do go that route then nicehash is the easiest route.

If you go with ASICs then keep in mind that the payout in BTC terms will continuously drop as the days go by because more and more power will be added to the network.

Ignore anyone who says "and S9 will produce x bitcoin over x time because they literally have no clue what they're on about.

One of the upsides to ASIC mining in non kyc coins, however it can work out cheaper and easier to use the money to buy the BTC then clean it up with a few transaction. Another upside is that you're contributing to the networks decentralisation.

Don't expect it to be mega profitable straight away, most early miners minednfor the sake of it, not really expecting to get rich.

No, oddly enough - I know #Bristol is absolutely famous for it and I love walking around up there - this is in #Portsmouth where we've just had a "street art festival" - I was dubious, but there's some great stuff being done...still not on a scale with Bristol but getting there...it's just not cultural down here yet

Saw some awesome #StreetArt while wandering yesterday, there's some great example around the city now and I'm enjoying seeing it all

Hope it's a good week! ๐Ÿค™๐Ÿ˜Ž

You could have a point...but, like you say... marriage material right there

GM #nostr and #btc fam, let's make it a good week eh? Lots to do, lots of fun to be had, let's get on it โ˜•๐Ÿค™๐Ÿ˜Ž

After coffee, of course...

In just over a decade in #btc I've gone through fuck loads of private keys. Lost, used and moved on, whatever.

I expect I'll probably end up with several nsecs on #nostr.

No biggy.

Fair, but if they're putting nostr in front of other people that wouldn't normally be exposed to it, same as they're doing with bitcoin, then we may as well take the opportunity.

Personally I don't think it'd be that hard for them to run some simple explainer videos for their users who are curious, and show good faith by linking to other great nostr based services beyond social.

Probably not, but the cost of creating a new one is trivial, so if anyone using ZBD cares they can always run a parallel account on another client with a different nsec they control - one for gaming, one for social, maybe one for work...
