Formerly @PortsmouthBTC on The Dead Bird. Used to do some stuff. Finally started doing stuff again. Possibly the only Bitcoiner to have *actually* lost everything in a boating accident. 🟠2013 🟣2023 #photography & #boatlife & #growstr #fishing amd #vibecoding fan and reforming church goer.

Well, the willingness to let someone sell your personal info certainly runs deep these days which is weird AF as far as I'm concerned but let's not forget, ZBD isn't a Nostr client, they're a games company offering certain social features...

My concern would be further down the line, when you've built a substantial following, made friends, built a reputation...then, let's assume that ZBD are actually good guys...but they get hacked and thousands of previously trusted nsecs are worthless...it doesn't even have to be them that are the bad actors...

But they'd be the ones to pay, via loss of reputation. It wouldn't take much, after a moment like that, for the people to fire up new accounts and reconnect with all the friends they've made here. It'd burn, but not as much as it would for the company. At least they're already here at that point.

It wouldn't take ZBD much to implement that would it? Encrypted back ups to a known remote storage solution.

One thing which has puzzled me is why they're so slow to open it up when you can just make a new npub in seconds on any other client - what's holding them up from just opening it up?

I agree, but if they rock up here not knowing that, then we can take the time to tell them - it's usually moments of pain which lead to changes in behaviour anyway, so there might have to be an awakening at some point, an event which pushes people to take five minutes to change their habits.

Or, and hear me out before pitchforking me please...(πŸ™)...

ZBD isn't aimed at Bitcoiners, they're a games company that rewards users with bitcoin and is introducing social features.

The people they're aiming at are the ones who want easy recovery options that they know and love and that means at the very least keeping a copy of the nsec and allowing people to recover everything via email, which they're used to.

Good or bad in anyone else's eyes doesn't matter to the company if the companies target market isn't them.

At least once they're here we can encourage further exploration and adopting their own pub/priv key set up. If they're put off before arrival then we don't get chance to show them the better paths. We might as well take advantage of the availability of non average bitcoin and Nostr user's that ZBD and others will bring.

That's tended to be the way I've done things, and some I've found through hashtags - not seen much shitcoinery on here so far thankfully

I've made significant progress today with my new project, it's come on leaps and bounds, as far as I'm concerned. There's a lot to do and it's not easy, but I reckon by the end of the week I'll have a basic working MVP.

It definitely feels more community like and far less adversarial than the dead bird 🐦

That's definitely handy, I want to be able to log on at any time day or night and see new activity

I'm now following a thousand accounts. That's because you lot are interesting, helpful, entertaining and bloody awesome.

Computer is on, goals are set, time to get to work...

It's also all very well onboarding merchants but without wholesalers it'll only go so far too, all the way up/down the chain

Hope you're having a good start to the day mate?

So glad I got off the boat at 7 this morning and experienced the sunrise, 'coz now...

Yeah, it ain't so nice. Mate just caught a wee bass though which is cool.
