It was a misimplementation of nip10. I build the thread by the first non-mention e tag after the root, but it should have been the last:

Damus only adds 2 e tags: root and reply. It seems amethyst/plebstr adds root and multiple e tags when replying.

No plans for now.
We are planning different business model which does not suits open-source. We know that for some users its an issue and we have some plans for example create separate signing app that will be open-source or view only (sign with npub) etc.
But things can change and this might change in future too and we might end up open-source. On Nostr everyday is different

It is good that you are keeping that in mind. I started having to feel that there are so much bad feelings around NIP-9X; good moving that out from nostr to keep it more welcoming for newcomers 💜
